New to me rx8 runs but won’t idle on its own
Hello,
I just purchased a 2004 GS Rx8 with 82,xxx kms.
Previous owner said the motor was blown. Me being a mechanic and never worked on a rotary engine before was interested in learning a bit more.
I replaced all blown fuses including the main 120.
now everything functions except Audio but that’s not important right now.
i replaced the battery, drained the 4 year old fuel and did an oil change. Unplugged the 2 plugs on air pump and had code p0107
tried to start it but no fire just cranking.
After a few tries and internet searches I tried to de flood it. After 7 10 second cranks with the clutch and gas down it started up. Running a little rough and I had to keep a little pressure on the gas to keep it alive. Once it got up to operating temp it just died.
i de flooded it 3 more times and it ran on the 4th try.
it ran for 5 min, I kept releasing pressure on the gas pedal until it was running roughly at 750 rpm. As soon as I let of the gas it died.
please watch the video and let me know what you thing.
plugs/coils?
low compression?
something eles?
I know almost nothing about rotaries so please let me know what you think.

Definitely get compression tested, even if it's with a regular tester instead of a rotary one.
Any obvious vacuum leaks?
Plugs / coils are never bad to test/replace, but start with a comp test so you know what you're investing into. Sounds like you can at least get it up to operating temp.
The check engine light is flashing which means misfire.
Also I would just verify that everything is wired correctly: coils going to the right plugs,

Update
I got a coil tester and found 2 coils dead, 2nd rotor wasn’t getting any spark.
I order 2 NGK coils, NGK plug and wires. Installed them and it fired right up, No cel codes, idled on its own and ran for about 15 min. I shut it down waited 5 min and restarted it and it fired up again with no problems. Did that 3 more times and it always fired up and ran well. Now I need to do a compression test......
