new owner with problems

hello people. i just traded in my mazda6i for an 05 rx8 last week and i love it! i have been having a problem with it though. sometimes (like 1 out of 3 times) when i come to a complete stop at a red light or a stop sign or something, the engine will just turn off. a couple of times it didnt turn back on when i tried to start it up again. i took it back to the dealership and they kept it for 4 days and they said they didnt see any wrong with it, even after driving it for an hour. at first i didnt think i was doing anything wrong, but on my way home after i got my car back from the dealership, it happened again while i was a red light. so now im starting to think im doing something wrong. i know how to drive stick (my first car was a del sol). but maybe there is something different im supposed to do since this car has a different kind of engine? when im slowing down, i usually put the car in neutral and brake, and hold the break with the car in neutral while im stopped until its time to go again. or should i break with car in gear with my feat on the clutch and break, and keep the car in gear while im stopped? please help. this has happened while i was out with my wife and we had to call a tow truck to take it home for us. i really dont want this to happen again

quite possibly, and is the easiest and quickest fix.
do a search here on how to clean it, the sensor tends to get quite dirty sometimes and can really mess with the IAT sensor.

Start tracking things like outside temp, operating temp, etc. when it happens. Those could be some keys in duplicating the issue for the dealership. Of course you want to make sure the plugs/wires/coils have been changed recently too. Coils don't get replaced as needed unless you're a rotor head and those can definitely cause problems if they are going bad and overheating.

It not starting again has me a little worried about the condition of the engine too, but an overheated coil fouling could cause the problem too.

Good luck!
