You might've extended some time but the inevitable will happen sooner or later. Check your compression bud.

Compression has been tested and came back good. Not all hot starts are causes of low compression.

Sounds like low compression to me, but I'm very much the amateur rotorhead. What do you think the problem is?

The problem was the car wouldn't start when it was hot (Example: shutting it off and starting it up again) when you watch the videos the car starts perfectly fine now because the upgraded starter spins faster and creates more compression

Sounded like it was cranking plenty fast enough to start with the old starter if it had decent compression.

What were the compression numbers and how did you test it?

I concur. Low compression. Mine was exactly the same with the upgraded starter. I knew it right away once it started happening. I toughed out the motor until one month before the expiration of warranty. Been super happy ever since!

From the video it sounds like the engine has a compression issue…The point though, is that the OP improved the starting with the upgraded starter. I would also decarbon the engine and make sure that all ignition components are up to date. These steps could further extend the life of the engine.

Like others said though, it would not hurt to set some money on the side for a new engine….or get rid off the car.

Ah. I suggest you find an Rx-8 with lower milage to test drive. Thats not perfectly fine, unfortunately. Lots of things you can try before getting a new engine. Atkins rotary has some good suggestions on cleaning rotor faces: https://www.atkinsrotary.com/index.php?pag=8#9. Also a lot of good suggestions on this forum. https://www.rx8club.com/forum/series...eaform-142852/

Good luck. I hope you don't give up on the car. They are worth the effort imho. Also: Thanks for posting the video! I wish I had better news to give you - but awesome you posted real data over just saying you did X and it did Y. +1 internets to you.
