Please give us all the info on your car, miles, year, service done, mods, etc. ...or do you have an early level starter? What's the numbers on it? It dose not sound like it's engaging.

thats the video before the replacements he posted in the other thread. hes saying after replacement it still sounds like that so I assume he got a bad "new" starter.

I got a starter from auto zone and it works fine. But could of got a faulty one. You have a warranty on it, take it back and get another one. You will have to take it to dealer so they can do a compression test. But when my starter went out i just push started it.

TQ,
You've hit this site a few times over the last few months with issues on your car: couple now on the starter (using the same video both times - once in your earlier post and again here although you say that the starter in the first post has since been replaced in this post), one also potentially related to starting with lean towards a bad cat, and the lingering question about the compression that the engine is able to hold. Along the way there was also a sidebar about emissions testing (you live in New York State - yes they mandate an emissions test every year as part of the annual inspection process) in conjunction with the cat.
Understand that funds may be limited, but from the progression of your threads it does not seem like your problems are getting resolved.
What did you do about the cat? Does the car really sound EXACTLY the same now as it did in your first post about your no start / bad starter situation? If so, then the answer is still the same, it is a bad starter and is not engaging properly. You may have a bad compression situation as well, but your duplicated video isn't going down that path.
The best way to really know if you also have a bad motor is to take it to a dealer, drop no more than two hundred on the service mgr's desk, and get a properly documented compression test done. Then compare those results with baseline metrics (which you can also find on this site) which will tell you whether the motor meets minimum factory specifications or not. You won't be able to have that done until you have a starter motor on the car that actually will start the car.

its the teeth on the flywheel where the start motor should engage to when you start the engine.
either the teeth are gone or the starter motor gear is not lined up with the teeth. I think the latter is more possible.

Take off the starter - look in the hole and see if the teeth on the flywheel are still there . It's unusual but it can happen . If the teeth look all good then the problem is still with your starter motor .
