No 5th/6th only Reverse
After recently taking the shifter out of my car I'm now having problems with no 5th or 6th gear. I've been running the AFE short shifter for a couple years and could shift in to every gear. Pushing down to get reverse was odd because the push was significantly shorter than stock, but I thought it was just how the shifter worked.
Now after taking the short shifter out of my car and putting it back in I no longer have 5th or 6th gear. I only have reverse. I replaced the short shifter with my stock and still the same problem, no 5th and 6th only reverse.
I still have gears 1-4, but now I only have reverse instead of 5th and 6th.
I've never had something like this happen before. Any idea what might be going on?
EDIT: Just realized I posted this in the wrong section. This should be under Series I Trouble Shooting

it happens, credit it to you for recognizing the mistake and admitting to it
it will need a transmission overhaul or more likely replacement in all likelihood. About the only way to figure it out is to take it apart.

I was assuming a teardown as well, hoping for some idea before going in to it.
My car is already shot the way it is, planning on getting a replacement. Might take this time to either do a rebuild or replace the transmission just to play with it.

it takes special fixtures, gear pullers, press, and other tools to repair this particular S1 manual transmission. There are no removable access covers and even the bellhousing is integral to the main case, not bolted on. It’s not something the typical DIYer is going to be able to do in their garage. The parts are also expensive. It’s generally better just to replace and scrap it if the mileage is high.
