No power, won't rev.

Ok guys I have buddy's 05 a/t 8 with an issue.
Engine is a 4 port with 60+k on the clock, has had it's spark plugs, coils, maf sensor and injectors replaced.
Everything on the car is stock.
Car starts fine hot or cold, it idles fine no weird noise coming from the engine bay.
Thing is it won't rev to save it's life, while in neutral or in gear. Test drove it tonight and I couldn't get it to rev past 5K.
The thing revs smooth too just awfully slow.
O and the dash is lit up like a christmas tree, exempt the people at autozone can't tell me what or if a code is present.

Help Please.

Can you suggest a specific brand that's worked for you?
Those yellow ones the guys at autozone where using did not work.

Switched throttle bodies with my car and it didn't seem to work. So we can rule that out.
Maybe an issue with O2 sensors or a plug cat like edzride suggested.

Took it to a shop and finally we get a code. Turns out its P1688. Has to do with the oil metering pump. Will search the forum see what I can find.

Well first of all I would like to thank everybody for there overwhelming support which this forum as we all know is famous for. j/k

Ok all fun aside instead of a help thread maybe this'll be an informative one for future reference.

I searched and I found two threads that helped me out.
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/help-car-limp-mode-p1688-163019/

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/oil-metering-pump-gone-need-help-179988/

The top one was the most helpful. I tried to zero out the pump and sensor but coudn't get it to work, so I swapped out the pump out of my car and the thing finally rev and pulled like it should of. No more limp mode. Now I just need a new pump to replace the one out of my car.
