Long shot, but I was chasing the same issue.. stick something inside the pulley and see if there is oil there. Next, look at the side of the belt that is closest to the engine. Is there oil on that edge? If so, look at the bottom of the OMP pump and see if there are a few drops of oil...
In my case, the OMP o-ring was leaking, oil was collection, when I hit the brakes the drop was going forward and hitting the belt. The belt spread it around nicely, mostly on the alternator, and the lower pulley. Until I looked at the back of the pulley, I would have sworn that the leak was in front mail seal. But, a clean back side of the pulley means the seal is good.

You can look for wash where the oil comes out it will be somewhat clean because all the detergents, or you can use some baking soda after you clean everything real good and dry it off, and the oil will leave it's mark and you can pin point it that way, or use dyes. My seal did this to me also.

Pretty easy, just have to remove your intake and battery, then the belts, and pulley, but I don't really have that stuff in my way lol. Just make sure to lube it before you put it in and make sure it's straight. Careful also that you don't scar the wall where the seal goes.

I would check the sensor on the oil pan before you go tearing your engine bay apart, I heard those can start leaking pretty often. But then again you may have already done that! Just my .02 cents. Good luck :]

First off, pictures. We love them and they help. And if they don't help we still love them. Second, if you don't know to take out an old broken/leaking seal when you replace it then you need to ask around and find a good rotary mechanic and pay him. It might cost a lot but you bought an RX-8 buddy. Good luck.

Yes you take out the old seal/gaskets when replacing anything that uses them and make sure you clean the area of the old seal/gaskets being careful not to scar the surfaces. So that means don't use any types of metal to clean it off that will scar the aluminum surfaces. Pay attention to how they are positioned also so you can put them in the identical way they came out. Pics are a plus, especially if you start a DIY.
