Oil line busted, or something else?
Hi all,
So I got my engine rebuilt and have driven around 500 miles with it. Everything seemed fine and I went for a daytrip to visit a friend some 2,5 hours away. We're about to go to a town to get some food and drinks and all of a sudden blue smoke is coming through the vents, starts heavily stinking like burning oil, so I stop the car immediately. I rev 3-4k long distance, and I top 5K rpm when I accelerate.
I look under the car, oil is dripping everywhere and the exhaust is making it smoke. I pop the hood and everything is covered in oil. A big trail of oil-spray (lots and lots of drops of oil, like a hose sprayed it out under high pressure) follows my car and sprays on the right half of the car for about 200 feet.
So we figure that the right oil line is busted. I couldn't check it yet because of the bodywork and lack of tools, and had to pay a tow-away for a couple of hundred buck to get home. Which seriously pissed me off. What pissed me off more that my left oil line was replaced, but the one that just exploded today was not...
When I got my car to my other mechanic, we just started the engine and let it run for 3 seconds and a quarter of oil just squirts out somewhere and you hear this high pressure hissing noise like opening a bottle of soda.
Monday we are checking, does anyone have an idea? Is it a busted oil line or something else maybe, so we know where to look? Engine seems completely fine, it all happened within a timespan of a maximum of 10 seconds between the start of the leak, smelling the burning oil and turning off the engine according to the trail, so the engine could not have been without oil. We just needed to make sure whether the car would start as before and it did, figured 3 seconds shouldn't hurt and have a peace of mind that it's just an oil line for now and the mechanic has a clue what is going on now.

Smoking turbo yay
Could be a line that busted and sprayed oil near the exhaust, which burns it and creates that blue smoke.
At least it's not coming out of the tailpipe.
Who rebuilt it? Any reputable shop should be able to stand behind their work after only 500 miles.

The belts and pulleys are soaked, so is the alternator and entire frontleft side of the engine bay from the perspective of when you pop the hood. The oilcooler and hoses are clean tho in the front bumper.
We will see.
