Parasitic draw through headlight washer circuit
Hey,
So us Canadian RX-8 GT's have this fancy headlight washer system that sprays windshield washer on the headlights. This is the (H.Cleaner) fuse in the underhood fuse box.
Over the last few months I've had constant problems with the battery running down over the course of a week sitting not driven, which was not the case before. It's winter so car sees as little outside as possible. Turns out the H.Cleaner circuit is sucking down 200mA with the car off.
For the moment I've solved the problem by pulling the H.Cleaner fuse, but I'm not sure how to proceed from here.
Any thoughts on how to narrow down the component responsible for the draw?
I'm inclined to blame the relay as I do recall hearing rapid ticking from its location one rainy night in August. This is a system that doesn't see much use, so the relay could have gotten stuck.
I could replace the relay and the motor (that seems to be all there's to this thing), but wanting to do a bit more diagnosis and repair if possible.
Thanks!
