Please help....car dies no check engine light
I own an 07...I've been having problems with my car shaking really bad when I stop with the ad on. I took it to the only Mazda dealer close to me and they said that was normal. The car also would get really hot and die when stooped. After 5 hours of racing my car up and down some back road close by, they said they found nothing wrong. But then they had to move some cars around at the shop so they started my car and left it. When they returned several minutes later the car was overheating. So they looked it over and said the radiator had a hole in it and needed a new one. They put in the new radiator a few days later and said they still found no other problems. I took the car home and a week later was still having rough shaking when stopped wit ac on...car ran fine with ac off, I took the car to Nissan here in town. They said the ac was shot and had to replace entire system. After the job was complete the mech said car runs great, come get it. I got almost home with my new ac making ice cycles in my car, stopped at a light, the car started shaking worse than ever and died. He mech from Nissan came and got it and drove it back to dealer with no problems. I got in car with him and went less than 5 miles with traffic lights and the car died three times...never has the check engine light come on. I'm so frustrated, does anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance..

I had this problem last summer and after searching through threads on this site I found the following things; the ignition coils are a likely suspect then the catalytic converter and O2 sensors would be next. I had the same problem last summer and replaced the coils and it fixed it.......... until this summer. Then the same thing happened so I bought more expensive coils from Black Halo. That made it better but it still gets rough at idle on a hot day with the A/C on.

I had the same problem, my car would idle rough when it gets hot. And then when I start the AC it would die at stop signs and traffic lights. I took it to the dealer and they ran some tests and told me my engine was done for. The tech told me that if you have low compression and turn on the AC, its like if you put load on the motor.
I would go for a compression test or maybe there is a vacuum leak somewhere?

I have an '05 with 150,000 miles on it. The last service it had other than by me was last summer when I had the cooling system flushed and new coolant put in. It's 107 degrees here in Texas today and my car was idling rough at stop with A/C on after running down the freeway for 20 miles or so. I may get a compression check soon but will probably check all the vacuum lines and clean the mass air flow sensor first.

so I checked the mass air flow sensor and it was clean, I went aheand a swabbed it anyway. I cleaned the back side of the butterfly valve in the throttle body while I was there and still have rough idle / stalling issues when hot. I just got back from the dealership and they informed me the compression was too low and recommended replacing the engine. The compression on rotor 1 is 5.9 and 6.1 at 259 rpm, rotor 2 is 6.9 and 6.7 at 259 rpm. So looks like I will just live with the rough idle/stalling issue unit I sell this car. It is an 05 with 154,000 miles, 6 sp.

Sorry it has taken so ong to get back on here to thank everybody....My car has been at a different shop now for 3 weeks(not a dealer just a shop). they have tested everything under the sun...found a bad fan, put a scanner on the car and found that the engine has been running a cool 260 degrees with no warning liters at allll!!! they replaced the fan motor. They found bad coil today and replaced it and told me that car has ran great afterwards and wanted me to take it home for the weekend and see how it did....I made it to my driveway and the car died. Whose *** do I have to kiss to get a new engine??? Someone at a dealer? This is really getting aggrivating!!!

Dont fix it if it aint broken!
Its clearly your engine. Take it to the dealer and tell them: "Hi my car is dying while driving it. I demand a compression test" they will ask you if you have checked your coils, plugs, wires. you say "yes, I just want a compression test and I want the results.".
A few hours later, you will know for sure what the problem is. I bet you a beer its the engine. (well maybe a few beers)
