Please help. Fuel issue? or???
I have an a/t 04 rx-8 92k - coils, plugs, wires all done less then 8 months. The cat is gutted k&n air filter thats about it. seafoam but not 100% done properly.
Issues:
Wants to stall at light only has once.
If driven for 15 mins. struggles to start after shut off.
When driving at consistent mph (70) rpm's start to blog as if losing power until i push down on throttle.
^^^ also \check engine light flashes but then shuts off repeatedly.
catch a misfire here and there
not until today did i feel it blogging on the hwy.
I promise im not being lazy, i just bought a new house and have a baby on the way in 3 months, plus working 60+ hrs. Really hoping i just need a fuel pump or something and not a new motor...
Any and All help would be greratly apreciated i live in the detroit metro area and have no clue of any shops that know rotary's

Have you had the engine codes read? That would be the best place to start.
At that mileage, it could be a lot of issues (fuel pump, compression, etc). Chek the major horsepower upgrades sticky for fuel pump advice.
Also, inspect your cat converter for wear/damage.

The cat is gutted completely so it is kind of a mid pipe and it just started flashing this am but Im at work right now (go figure) so i havent had a chance to get them read. Also i haven't dont any major horsepower upgrades unless you count the baby on board magnet which adds like 50hpw...

Yes I am hoping to get out of work early enough to go to autozone or something but we'll see. I found it odd that it would only flash when i kept pedal pressed at a constant as soon as it flashed and i stepped on gas to gift it more power it would stop flashing.

This
And I would think we need to know the last time the plugs and coils where done.
Also ... make sure you have the upgraded starter motor.
Believe me it makes starting a engine with low compression waaaay easier.
I know this from experience
Still running the same low compression engine .. . upgraded starter ... start immediately.

All plugs coils and wires upgrades less than 5k. and not sure if i have new starter but that was also my guess but my question is why would it blog at a consistent speed and flash but when throttle is pushed down more aggressively it runs like norm...

coils 99% sure are installed right but i will go home and take them apart will clean maf again and im guessing there is a diy ess clean on here, it has misfired since i bought car 1 yr ago even after i replace all coils wirs and plugs so i guess i will go thru it all again tonight.... smh i love this car but all the work i have put into the basic maintenance is just a little O/D think i might have to get rid of her when the baby comes......

I call it a hobby car.
Any chance there is an RX8 club around you? Typically the guys that get involved in those things love to help other 8 owners out.
For Whatever Its Forth:
I don't think its a fuel pump issue as there is very little draw on the pump at cruise, if the pump was going it would bog when you demanded more fuel.

There are essentially 3 failure modes observed with this pump assembly:
1)Loss of flow during normal operation after extended highway cruising
2)Loss of flow during relatively high-G left-hand turns
3)Loss of flow during normal operation after 60k miles or more

Thanks for reminding me.
However, just thinking here, would you not still get hesitation if you hit the gas.
If the car is hesitating on cruise and you press the gas wouldn't you continue to get problems.
I sooooo love the fact that I have a fuel press gauge.
It should be the first mod for any RX8 owner, especially if its a SeriesI

Ok so got out of work to late to get to autozone. but drove it home and it was just fine then went to drive this morning and the same issue ensued even worse then before even stalled out at the bank, turned it off did the 20 brake pump reset rode good for about a min then the problem started up again... i've gone through over a half a tank in 2 days driving 40 miles all together not good. Had extremely rough back end vibration along with scattered idol before warm up. I did get an extended 2 yr warranty from the Honda dealership i bought it from just dont have enough faith in them holding thier part of the bargain or thier sheer knowledge of the car any other ideas will have the codes by tonight
