Please, Please help!! just searched for 3 hours and nothing....

Hey all... and yes I know you will all say too search, and use the google search, well I have tried both or 3 hours and found nothing that is about my exact issue....

So I have a 06 mt rx8 with 50,000km no mods, and everything was fine and until I ran out of gas like two blocks from the gas stations.... so after putting about 5 litres of gas in and trying to start it, it wont start.... it isnt turning over the engine at all. and I can tell its not the battery because its not even trying to turn over the engine and Ive had a batter die on me when starting a car a long time ago and its nothing like this....it literally feels and seems like as if the cars computer is specifically stopping it from allowing me to start it up.. I have primed the fuel system and Ive also started up a car that wasnt primed and the engine turns over but wont start as if its starved for fuel, but this isnt like my issue at all,,, I jsut can get the starter to turn over the engine, but all was fine until I ran out of fuel????? any ideas? and please dont just tell me to tow it to the dealer...thanks so much...and I know this is my first post but you guys have helped me alot in the past just from searching and what not

When you are starting it you are not touching the gas pedal - if you touch the pedal while starting it shuts the fuel off I'm pretty sure

Can't really tell from your explanation - you say it's not TURNING OVER, is the starter turning the engine or not?

What happens when you turn on the dashboard? Did you try reading eventual CEL codes?
You should describe your problem a bit better, especially what happens when you try to turn it on.
Check your fuses while you're at it.

Anyway, running the car that low on fuel is stupid. The fuel pump needs that dyno juice as a coolant too

Thank you all so much for the fair replies lol.... but seriously thanks....... and I feel so stupid....it was the battery... the reason I really didn't think it was is because it would do everything else normally and I tried alot of times and nothing else showed any sign of the battery being low at all. In the past any time a battery died that I was working with on my car or at mr lube where I worked for awhile everytime the car would at least attempt to start like the engine would move at least a little bit then less and less and less until it would just click, and the times that the person kept trying after another 10 or so times it wouldnt even click and the lights wouldnt turn on etc. When it happened this time I was driving on a slight hill and all of a sudden it started like gasping for air kinda like you could totally tell it was needing gas it wasnt getting and then it stalled. I didnt even attempt to start it since I knew it was on empty and was sure it was the gas being gone lol. I rolled it back off the road, and I only had a 2 litre bottle and not much money so I used that for gas, and I went an got it, filled in the 2litres, and tried to start it, but no lights or anything was on the whole time, and even the very first time I tried to start it just clicking no starting or like the engine didnt even try to move or turn over or anything at all. I didnt have any jumper cables at all either so I wanted to try everything first before finging someone who had them. Anyways it didnt start so I went back to the gas station 3 times lol and realised after over $10 worth going in that it had to be something else, but the intire time trying to start it easily 5-10 times after putting the gas in 3 seperate times and the whole time it didnt once change in how it acted as far as the lights and how much(or how little for that matter) it tried to start it, o and I wasnt pushing down the gas pedal or anything like that, and I did prime the fuel system before trying to fully start it.

after jumping it I ran it for a good 20 minutes and now it seems really good.

so I'm assuming either my battery is dying and it was just a coincidence that it happend then. Although hasn't happened since even with quickly starting and stopping like 6 times as I ran errands after.

or

I must have had a relatively low charge maybe from it being colder, and my aftermarket sub, and amp(oops sorry I guess that would be considered a mod, and I said none earlier) and the relatively short drive(15minutes) before turning it off, and then driving 3 minutes before it dying, and maybe that drive wasnt enough to fully charge it and the trying to start it the first time killed it.

or both??

or maybe my charging system is drying, alternator etc.? maybe my system which is only 600w's aftermarket, and bose, is too much for the alternator? its only been in 4,000km

any ideas would help...thanks... and sorry for even asking I shouldve found someone with jumper cables first and tried that, but it wasnt easy where I was flagging cars down lol, and I would felt even dumber had that not worked, as I had thought it wouldn't and wasting some random persons time.....so thanks

If I lose a battery, I usually replace it. They typically do not come all the way back. And, in trying to charge them, the alternator is overworked. I hit Autozone for one of their 5 year deals. They stand behind them. I have been VERY unhappy with Advance Auto Parts for batteries.
