Please please help me

Hey guys first time user on this website and first time rx8 owner. I own a 2005 Mazda Rx8 GT model. I've had it for a month now its been flooded once because my dad took it out of the garage and shut it off without the engine being warm. It was towed to mazda and repaired and charged me hundreds. Now after waiting 5 min everyday to let the car warm up before going it doesnt start on the first crank but the second cranks always a charm.

How do I fix this and if I ever do have another flood can I repair it myself?

Thank you

Yep, do some searching and reading! It can be a five minute task, or it can take hours.
If you keep flooding, bad things are in your future, so make sure dad knows the below!

BTW..............you don't have to wait five minutes as a rule, but what you need to do is let the water temp needle get about 1/2 way to it's normal position before starting to drive it, then keep it under 4k until the needle is at operating tempertare. And as you now know..........don't shut it off cold. Wait until it gets almost to operating temp before shut down.........drive around the block(or two) if you have to do so.

Unless it's a very early 05, you should have an upgraded starter. It should fire up real quick. If not, it could be the starter or your battery might be getting weak. You might want to head to an autozone and have it(the battery) checked for free. Unless dad or you have a meter and know how to check the battery voltage.

Thanks for the advice I live in British Columbia so there is no AutoZone here, I believe the battery was replaced before I had purchased it so it may be the starter and is the water temp the one on the left or the right? Thanks

Left!
Don't you have a manual for this car?
If not, I know your in BC, but send me via PM your E-mail, and I'll send you a pdf file of the US 05 Owners Manual. There only a few differences.
