Plugs/Coils. Again?

My 04 RX8 had its spark plugs and 2 coils changed two years ago. At that time, I was complaining about loss of performance as well as the engine taking a long time to start. Car had 27000 miles on it. That procedure helped tremendously and the car felt like new.

Recently, I've been noticing a slight extra vibration coming from under the hood when the throttle is on. It will be most noticeable (but still not obvious) at 2-3k rpm. The engine also seems anemic anywhere below 5k rpm, and starting at 5k it seems "okay".

I went to the dealer for a diagnostic, and the tech recommended, wait for it, new spark plugs, wires and coils. This would be my 3rd set (counting the originals), and the car has 34000 miles. Tech mentioned there were no codes to be pulled, but he says he did check the coils and they apparently were out.

Is this car supposed to go through spark plugs/coils that fast, or should I seek another diagnostic?

Thanks!
