Pop/Clunk from front right?
Recently I've been hunting a popping/clunking noise from my front right side when I turn the wheel full lock to the right. The noise only happens when the cars on the ground. I've lifted it and turned the wheel to both sides full lock and no noise. I replaced my front sway bar with a brand new Whiteline sway bar and brand new Evo-R adjustable endlinks and the noise is still persistent only on full lock to the right only.
I'm suspecting it may be the tie rods, but I'm not fully sure on how to test them. I shook the outer tie rods that connect to the hub, with the front end on stands, to check for any play in the joints, but no avail. They seem solid. I'm not to sure on how to test the inners or if thats even the problem. But I can rule out the sway bar and endlinks as they are brand new and I torqued them down as tight as possible. Anyone have this problem and find a solution?

Worn CV joints will make a clunking noise when wheel is turned and it's not uncommon for them to wear out. Just get a buddy to turn the wheel for you while you listen and feel with your hands for the noise/vibration underneath.
Also, If you raise the wheel off the ground, you can check tie rod ends by placing one hand on the top of the wheel and the other on bottom. Pull with one hand push with the other, alternating between the two ( basically shake wheel). If you hear a clunking noise, tie rods are bad and if your buddy is with you, have them do the shaking while you grip the tie rod end with your hands to feel for vibrations.
I'n a nutshell get someone to turn the wheel for you and you should be able to pinpoint the noise.
Good luck.

The RX8 doesn't have a CV joint.
Those I believe are only used on front wheel and all drive vehicles.
Rear wheel drive vehicles have universal joints along the drive shaft.
If its a grinding noise/metallic squealing while the car is moving its likely a wheel bearing.
A clunking noise or broken metal popping sound when you slowly go over a hump (like a speed bump or a hump at the end of a driveway) that might be the ball joint

CV Joints as in the boots over the inner tie rods? CV joints are for the axles no? And we only have axles in the rear. I'll do the checks on the tie rods to check for noises though thanks.

Didn't get a chance to look at it yet as I been busy with work. But if it is the control arm/ball joint. From the pics online. It looks like the ball joint is integrated in the control arm. Would I have to replace the entire control arm or can I press a new ball joint in?

if it is the lower a arm's ball joint, u have to replace the whole thing.
if your car is a 2004 and never had the recall done, there is a chance that the ball joint will "break free" from the arm and result is lost of steering control.
but even with the updated part, hmm, dunno
so check it.
