Power cut after hard left on track
Hi,
I have had my 04 Rx8 since march, it has 70k on it.
About a month ago at a track day it was fine during the first session but by the second after a hard left it would accelerate to 80 then drop down to 76 or 78 before slowly accelerating again.
Temperatures - 90+ degrees, a/c was not on
I figured it was low fuel as it is an Rx8 so even though I started with a decent amount it did drop down to about 1/4 when this happened. I filled it to about 3/4 and the problem still persisted during the 3rd session.
I just got done cleaning my "fuel sock" and I really don't think that was it. In fact, it looks fairly new.
That said, what's the process here? What should I check next, what order, etc.
I should also point out that the air filter is new and the ESS is clean... I had a scratch in my eye to prove it (wear safety glasses).
Thanks in advance,
Chad

This is a very common issue. Easiest fix is to keep your tank above 1/2 full at the start of a session...or1/4 full at all times.
If its doing it above that you likely need a new pump.
Search for threads and solutions ...there is lots of info on this

Thanks for the replies. I knew about this before I bought the car and hence filling the tank. That didn't work though. It was 90+ degrees outside and after reading through some threads I went ahead and purchased a DW200 from BHR.

If anyone else searches this, the new fuel pump fixed this issue. Also at $120 at the time, it was much cheaper than a stock fuel pump. As for noise, I'm sometimes reminded but rarely notice.

It will.fix it up to a point......then it will starve itself 😎 How far you get will depend on track layout and tires
