power locks problem
Hey guys....I brought my '05 rx-8 to the dealer on Monday to address an issue with my power locks. Whenever I hit the lock button in the car, the doors fail to lock. They must be locked manually. It doesn't seem like there is enough power pushing to the locking mechanism. The dealer tried replacing a switch on the door with no success. They said they are going to have to go behind the dash and look at one of the control modules.
What do you all think is wrong here? Anything I should ask the dealer to double check?

I have a similar problem that just flared up over the weekend...
However, my remote will not unlock or lock the doors or trunk.
The strangest part is that the door lock switch works while the car is running.
Also... keep in mind I checked all the fuses ehich are OK, none of the interior lights operate. The radio doesn't work, and when I shut the car off, the gaugues don't drop to the normal locations. listed below
0rpm
E (Fuel)
Lowest points on H2O Temp and Oil Pressure.
Every time I turn the car to the "ON" position, the gaugues go from max to min, then sit at the correct loations. The fuel trip display below the odometer also resets every time.
Any insight will be great... I was guessing this is a possible control module or diode problem... but to be honest, I'm stumped.

Hey, I am having the same issue... I just finished installing my Lambo door kit, and now the doors wont lock. They unlock with the switch or the remote, but when i hit lock, I can hear a relay click under the pass dash, but nothing moves. The lights dont flash, but the horn beeps after the second 'lock' press.
Also, my front woofer door speakers dont work now, not sure if they are related, but we need to figure this out!

I'm having basically the same problem that everyone described above, my question is if I replace the module under the dash on the passenger will anything have to be reprogrammed? Keys or Remote? I don't think it's the actuators because sometimes the doors will lock and unlock fine, but most of the time they do not so I'm thinking it's that module. What do you guys think?

I have a similar problem. When mine first started only the driver's side would unlock with the remote, while the passenger's side would lock if it was unlocked at the same time. This occurred with the unlock button on the remote. None of the other controls responded other than the relay making the switch. The trunk release still operated normally. I replaced both actuators so far and now nothing is responding other than the relay switch and the trunk still operating normally. Maybe someone can tell us where this 'control module' is or provide some other incite as to what the solution may be?

Ok so today I verified that the keyless entry control module is not my issue I took one out of a friends 8 and swapped it with mine and still have the same problem, it works fine in his car. So now I have to start trying to diagnose this problem further, it seems to me there's not enough power being supplied to the keyless entry system door locks are slow to open when they do and when locking the car the horn that goes off seems much quieter then I remember and quieter compared to other 8's. I'll also be looking into any possible problems with the door lock actuators.
On a side note I had a problem last week with my room fuse blowing, the lights inside my car would flash, the light on the dash that shows the doors are open would flash, I could hear a relay in the keyless entry control module click and then the fuse would blow. I took the module out at that time and cleaned all the connections with contact cleaner, cleaned the circuit board with contact cleaner, and removed the ground and sanded down the contact point and tightened the ground back down. This seems to have solved the problem with the fuse blowing for now, I guess we'll see what happens.
