WA Power Steering

I just bought my first rx8 on thrusday (2/3/11).

after i picked it up while driving it back i swore the power steering was going out then coming back (was really stiff sometimes and smooth as butter other times).

yesterday while i was driving it just quit and the the [steering wheel] ! light is always on.

before you ask, i have used the search button...im just not familiar with electric power steering...im going to check the battery cable (saw someone had a loose connection there) but im not sure thats it.

where exactly is the ps connector and rack harness?

I believe it's underneath your intake box. Mazdamaniac has a good DIY on how to clean the Power steering connectors. It's a common issue and easy to fix if it's just bad connectors.

got it.

removed the air box, unplugged the power steering battery cable (marked white), removed the air box mount (big black piece (2x 10mm bolts, 2x 10mm nuts), tried and failed to disconnect the power cable under the air box, reconnected the power cable to the battery and it works.

probably not for long, when it dose fail again i will make a video on how to get to it...and probably end up hard wiring it.

cant wait to get a cold air intake on there.

thanks for the help.
