Question Power Steering Anomaly in Morning

For the past few days, after starting the car in the morning, I've encountered something strange. As I release the parking brake and start rolling backwards down my driveway into the street, I notice that my power steering isn't working. Typically, after backing into the street and turning the steering wheel (forcibly), the power steering comes online and the car runs nominally for the rest of the day.

I've got an '04 6-speed. Since it's electric power steering, I'm guessing the first thing I should do is check the connections. Does anyone have a tech manual with schematics to help me locate those connectors? Has anyone else had this problem? I'm looking to do some troubleshooting myself before paying a mechanic.

Eradicator, if you pull your air cleaner box and remove the trey under it you will see the connectors, they are easy to access, was going to do mine this weekend and ran across this little problem, was the mechanics poor skills and I will be going to see them later this week.Power Steering Anomaly in Morning-2010-car-steering-040.jpg
