problems with 8
i have read that some people are trading in their 8's. i want to know if they have had the same problems i have had. i have had my rx-8 for a year and a half and had to replace the driver seat, ash tray, glove compartment, console, passenger airbag, driver airbag, both sun visors, and have to take it in soon for one of the airconditioning *****. the one that turns it from cold to hot broke the other day. i have even had to take it in for flooding. as many problems as i have had with it i still love it and would never trade it in. i just want to know what other problems other people have had with their 8's.

After you totaled your car, why didn't they just give you a new one?

I've had to replace the front brake pads, a plastic sliding clip in the console track, and both rear taillights.
Brake pads: squeeking
Clip: broke off
Taillights: condensation, but I think it was related to an accident I was in

That seems like an unusual amount of things gone wrong. Hopefully the poster will be able to respond and explain what his failure modes were. I haven't had any issues with my 8 thus far, except for the left hand rear quarter window frame that was chipped when I did my personal pre-delivery walk around. They ended up having to replace the entire window. Can't even tell they had to mess with it now.
I've been real happy with the car. The biggest problem I've had with the car is finding enough good opportunities and good roads to drive the car (I do live in Michigan after all).
Wiping brake dust off my wheels and soot off my tailpipes gets a little tiring too...

first off i don't treat my car rough. i had to replace the seat because a spring was tearing through when i bought it and the airbags they told me there was a recall on them. the console clip broke as did alot of other peoples. the visors just split in half and i never use them. the glove box and ashtray, the mazda dealership told me a clip inside of those broke also which happened when my car was at the dealership getting fixed. i think it was the dealships fault they broke. even when i picked up my car from being fixed they had scratched a couple of panels and left dirt and mud all over the interior.

these are just interior problems. i havent had any problems with the engine. and yes i do want to put a turbo in my car. I have talked to the dealerships and they said that the interior was made pretty cheap and i have to agree.

If we could convince Microsoft that trolls are a threat to users worldwide, do you think they could get the FCC to mandate mice that would electrocute any user that posts trollish material to a forum? I think that'd be the final nail in the coffin for all of this Linux #%$^.

No major problems as yet although the armrest does sway a little from left to right, and there is a bit of squeeling when i brake (sounds like it's coming from the back). I'll take it back when i can be bothered.
The dealer told me that the reason there are a lot of used 8's with low mileage and in mint condition is because people don't think fuel consumption is as high as figures state. Apparently, the think I'll not drive it as hard and get more mpg. How wrong were they.
They bring them back after topping up petrol every week for so many months.
