Question about Replacing Blown Motor with a Different Year Motor

my 2004 rx8 GT autos motor siezed after my radiator exploded. I would like to be able to put a motor from a 2007 rx8 in it. Is that possible as just a regular drop in 2004 motor or is it not possible or only possible with modifications. I have my reasons why I want a 2007 instead of 2004 motor.
Thanks guys

All 2004 to 2005 Automatic transmission RX-8s had the same engine, swappable without any differences between each other.

All 2006 to 2008 Automatic transmission RX-8s AND all 2004 to 2008 Manual transmission RX-8s had the same engine, swappable without any differences between each other.

All 2009+ RX-8s have the same engine.

You can't swap between each of these 3 groups without lots of headache, heartache, and way more money than is ever reasonable.

Thanks guys, i kinda figured that be the answer

It looks like im getting a 2004 motor with 71,000 miles on it which i quess is ok since my car has 70,015 on it. I just bought the damn car and drove it twice when all this happened, not a good start

Pay an extra $1,600 and use a piggy back ECU (I have a specific one in mind) to control the APV and P2 injectors.
