Radio Issues After Recall Service

Good morning, gentlemen.

I recently have come across an intermittent issue with my display and HVAC control unit ever since having my airbags done. Not sure if this was the cause, but it only happened after the fact.

My radio most of the time will just start up normally, but my A/C button and defroster button will not work. All other controls are fine.

Every now and again, however, this happens:

After about 30 seconds, the radio sorts itself out and all controls are usable. This only happens every few keystarts and if I restart the car, the A/C button and defroster probably will stop working again until the above occurs.

Given a lot of the threads on the topic, I realize I could either need to solder the HVAC panel, or possible reseat the radio completely. Just wanted to get a beat on what you guys' experience has been. I don't want to do any soldering if I don't have to.

They most likely screwed something up putting your dash back together. Looks like there's some interference either in the CAN or SPI interface, either because they didn't plug something in the right way. Or they wrapped some wires around something they shouldn't have.

They'll probably give you a hard time about it, but you need to just take it back to whoever did the work and show them the video of the issue. You'll never be able to reproduce it in front of them, that's just how it works.

Under normal circumstance, I'd go back and see if they would help me out, but unfortunately I'm not in my home state until late August and that's where the service was done.
