Radio not Working after bump in Road
Hey guys, need some help here, so I have a 04 8 as my sig states below. Well sometimes on some bumpy roads my CD player will skip but the CD will start playing again. ( I actually cant remember if this happens with just the radio now) But anyway today I ran over a bump in the road where they laid new pavement, that was a bit higher than the "old" road and it felt pretty hard and the cd player/radio no longer works at all. The CD wont play, the radio wont play, the radio wont power on or off and the lights are out on the radio player as well that shows me the temp, etc
Could it be a fuse, or something came loose or what could it be? what fixes can I try?
Thanks in advance

The faceplate separated from the head unit. It could have just come unplugged or it cracked. It happens if you are not careful removing the headunit and pull on the radio faceplate (it plugs into and screws to the actual head unit and CD player).
Gently remove it and see. It's easy to remove. You might just have to plug it back in or maybe superglue (will probably vibrate loose again) it and see if it works. First try gently pushing on the front and see if it presses in at all.

So I just found my car was not covered under the warranty since I got the warranty that was under the one that covers the radio SMDFH!!!!
So I'm not paying $680 and they said the faceplate needs to be replaced and the diagnosis is $210 for 2 hours ..... now I have to wait for the dude to help me tomorrow when he comes back to work. I told them I was never told that I approved the car get fixed so we shall see

Say what? that first sentence makes no sense.
You can buy a used headunit for $50.00-$100.00.

I told him that I was never called to confirm the diagnosis since he said the original guy that helped me should have called to confirm I wanted to do that. I took the car in at 10am which was my appt, and they said they cant look at it till after Lunch (1 oclock). I never got a call back till I called in today at 8am this morning. (actually I called back yesterday 3 times and they were still seeing what was wrong with my car) but the guy said that he had to call the warranty company to see if my radio was covered. I should have been told that my radio was not covered prior in my warranty prior to them working on it right?

Yeah I had the extended 100k warranty and it covered some expensive stuff but not interior bits. Replacing the head unit is a breeze. You might even be able to snag a 6 disc changer unit.

Before you buy a new one or a second hand unit, there are a couple of things you can check.
The Radio has a fuse located in the footwell fuse panel, no 2 IIRC. Also one of the many connectors may have come loose and removal and replacement may sort this problem out. If that fails, there is an internal fuse in the head unit that can be repaired, which may have blown.

Hey, Guys, Im back, I just got my car back as well, I just want to verify exactly what I need after this was written by the technician at Mazda about my radio
"Found radio faceplate broken from someone trying to pull radio out without removing security bolt- pins for connector had been pulled out which caused loss of power between radio and faceplate - I was able to reassemble faceplate to radio but is not secure and will not stay connected over time"
So the radio was working when I got it but I hit a bump and of course it stopped working again. So I'm taking yall's advice which is to get a used Faceplate. Before I buy and this is what Im verifying and assume, is that the connectors are attached behind the faceplate? And if so I can just order this

BTW I'm not sure the differences between those... Thanks

A new faceplate will work provided the deck itself is okay. Usually it is the faceplate that cracks. But for $100.00 you could get a whole head unit. Check out the part out threads, phantom RX is parting out his 07', he may have one. I paid $50.00 or $75 for mine when I replaced it.
