Random CEL (Please Help)
Ok so lets start with some background info.
2005
Rx8
6 Spd M/T
Leather interior with heated seats (not sure of the trim name)
No modifications
100% stock
52k Miles on the clock
Ive owned the car for 3 weeks now, this is my 2nd Rx8 as i used to have a 2004 and im aware that when something goes wrong how it feels and acts.
So i drove to work today about 3 miles from home. Parked the car everything was great. Went on lunch and drove less than mile to the subway and parked the car again no problems at all. I got in my car and started it up and began driving and noticed i have a CEL now. So i shut the car off and turned it back on and i still got the CEL. The idle is perfect, Temps are perfect as well as Oil Pres. No hesitation at all or abnormal noises comming from the car such as rattling or banging. Car did take a extra second to start up when leaving lunch and that kind of worried me a little normally it starts Immediatly. But when i shut it down and back on she started right up again. Im at work now and there is still no noises or abnormal idle or any symptoms or anything that ive seen before.
Does any1 have any ideas of what would normally cause a CEL to come on so sudden with no symptoms...
And no i didnt put gas and leave the cap unscrewed >.>
I should be able to run it through an OBDII scanner around 6pm tonight and will post the code results. But if any1 has any feedback or ideas please share!
Thanks in Advance

to be honest, it could be one of a million things. Anything from an issue with the Cat to a voltage discrepancy to the gas cap not sealing properly even though you tightened it.
Without pulling the code, it's almost impossible to know what's going on.
Let's start with the positives:
- The car appears to be running normally, that is always a good start.
- You plan on pulling the code soon, unlike some people who start threads like this and say, "my CEL came on 3 weeks ago... "
A few things I should mention:
I am glad you mentioned that the temperature and oil pressure were 'perfect' but unless you are running aftermarket gauges, I hate to tell you this but you shouldn't rely all that much on those instruments.
The Oil pressure is a complete 'dummy gauge' (hence why it's gone in the Series II). It is not connected to ANY sensor. IF the car has pressure (basically, if it starts...) then the needle goes to the exact same spot every time and stays there.
The Oil temperature is similar, once the temps exceed the 150° mark (give or take 10°), it will stay there until you go past 222°F at which time you are QUICKLY approaching heat soak conditions and in danger of causing damage. 230°F plus temps are 'danger zone' for most.
Glad you thought to check on them, just wanted to share a few of those points as most owners aren't aware that they can't rely on those gauges as much as one might think.
Once you pull the code, go here https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/rx-8-technical-info-cel-codes-pcm-pin-list-collision-guide-26291/ and see what the code means. Make sure to post it and we'll see what we can do to help diagnose.

right
Evaporative System Malfunction, Small Leak
so gas cap. did you get gas on your last trip or two the night before this happened? or before going to work? or on the way to lunch?
because the evap test runs after you shut the car off. sometimes the first time after the initial fail sometimes after a few repeat fails it lights the cel . you

Yea i looked it up i feel like an idiot now for asking instead of waiting. O well A+ for effort and being proactive about the situation. Thanks for all of your input with this and ill go get gas tomorrow and make sure its tightend enough and if still CEL ill order the Replacement.
