Ratteling in Steering

Hi I have a 04 RX8
when I'm driving, on certain turns or at certain degree of steering the colum starts to rattle, it can be heard and some times the steering even locks up (rarely). I was wondeing is this a very serious porblem? (like OMG your still alive?! )

on a side note when I purchased this fine ride 2 month back it just had its engine replaced.

Thanks

Well you must still have warranty. The lock-up is a serious safety issue. Return for service ASAP
The rattle comes from a couple of places; One (Airbag rattle) has a tsb for early 2004 RX8s. The other (Instrument pod squeak) is covered in a DIY
Also there is a tsb about the front wheels causing a 'snapping sound' in some low speed corners
Can you describe the rattle a bit more...

during low speed turns, or while stoping you I turn the steering certain direction the entire colum rattles you can feel it in the steering, and it goes away if you turn futher or return to neutral postion. I've give it a couple more trys and it seems to appear more often during slow movement of the steering

Hope that helps

Regarding the snaping, will the dealer cover the tsb on it or I have to pay for it and if so how much?

Thanks

If you're in warranty then the tsb is covered; But the solution to the front wheel snapping sound is just to apply more torque to the wheel lugs.

Has your steering lock-up issue been addressed?

Not yet I'm brinig it into the dealer on Monday to get it checked out... I'm kinda concerned that since it only pops up once in a while will they be able to find it.
