rear brake caliper stuck

ok so i neglected to change out my rear breaks due to the fact i dont dd the car anymore. now i go to put in new rotors and pads and i can't get the rear caliper to push in. i am using a c clamp like i normally do on front break jobs. any idea why it wont go in? i removed the cap for the break fluid like i do on the fronts but it feels stuck not moving at all and its almost all the way out. thanks for the help rx8club

You need to rotate the piston as you push it in.

The rear doesn't push it twists. Tip: put a little liquid wrench between the caliper and the boot to let it twist without ripping the boot

Yup, it needs to be twisted. I use one of these:

OEM/Rear disc brake cube for use with 3/8 in. drive tool (25071) | Brake Tool | AutoZone.com

You can get one at any auto parts store.

They sell for a few bucks... Don't cheap out. I've warned others in the past that c-clamps can potentially damage the caliper internals.

The fronts can be compressed with c-clamps as they are not screwed on.

I believe you will find the FD rear brakes work the same way. They are the same design that were on my FB. And yes, I use a c-clamp for my brakes two.
