rear brakes are locked

I was driving the car yesterday and noticed it was sluggish and my brake light was on on the cluster so I thought oh oops forgot to put the hand brake down all the way but no, it was infact all the way down. drove to the store and when I got back, the brake rotors were HOT. what should I do?

Maybe the cable got snagged on something, or the springs on the rear calipers have become compromised...? Get under there are inspect for anything that looks like it would be holding the cable..

Was it one rotor or both? Did you remove the rear calipers to see if there was a problem. If you don't know how to remove the rear calipers, take it to a mechanic to have them take a look.

I only touched the left rotor so idk if they are both hot... I will check to see if the cables are snagged but caliper work will have to be done by a mechanic.

brake lines were clear but the brakes were still locked and I drove a few blocks to see if both rotors would get hot but sitting at the stop sign I put the emergency brake on then off and the brakes disengaged like they were supposed to

It could be a loss of the hydraulic pressure at the rear brakes. Check if you have brake fluid first. Then, check the line going back to the rear brakes...might be clogged. Or, something is defective on the brake parts.
