For the NEVER ENDING strive to become "lighter" in weight Auto Glass that does not have to be laminated is VERY thin, and will always shatter into tiny pieces.
Even their front Laminated (or safety) Windscreen Glass is pretty thin, a friend of mine was showing her young son how to punch, and she hit the screen of her GG Mazda 626 Wagon, cracked the Windscreen, she was amazed at just how little force she used!!

so i'm driving my to work this morning around 5:45am on a quiet road on the outskirts of town and suddenly my rear windshield just explodes. No traffic, travelling about 55, but the odd thing is there are two holes in the rear windshield that look as if a projectile had passed through the car. damndest thing i ever saw, scared the **** out of me... what you guys make of this:
