I just got a call from my dealer.
Apparently the heat blankets are arriving at the warehouse now and they "should have the car ready by mid-next week". But they don't have the info yet? :( |

Thanks for all the great info zoom44 and Gomez. I really appreciate it; and as much work as it is digging through a now very lengthy thread... it is well worth it. I also really appreciate the up to the minute updates as well :-)
As for Gomez's lucky "D" flash, Aratinga, I spent over a year in Austrlia and loved it, well worth a visit, you should definatly make the trip! and Melbourne is a great place to start! Someday I hope to get the chance to get back over that way for a couple of weeks... maybe run into a few 8 owners... sorry Gomez, I can't make quite as nice an offer... I figure what I've got to flash isn't quite what your looking for ;-) But maybe we could grab dinner :-) Thanks again! |
My RX8 was ordered in May, built after July 7th(obviously Group 2) but when it arrives in a few weeks, how can I make sure they actually flashed it?
Group 1 gets to take it in and get back a service invoice, will I get anything showing what they did? (repairs will probably not be needed but flash will) Thanks, Also: Zoom and Gomez, you guys RULE! Thanks for keeping us in the loop so well. Drinks on me if you're ever in my neck of the woods. :D |

As for the GBR, it is awesome, got my diving cert on it while I was there... wish I had managed to do it earlier though :-( Got it about 3 weeks before I left! And unfortianatly have not had a chance to use it since! |
Yeah, if your from a commonwealth country its extremely easy to emigrate. Hell, I think as a Canadian, I may have to make a phone call and buy some government official a fosters, and im in. Ditto an Australian coming to Canada... but the type of beer changes.

two things-
A. everyone needs to stop calling on their dealers. unless you have just purchased an 8 and not picked it up yet THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR YOU. wait until you get your letter in the mail. second- on going to australia . it is my understanding that a certain someone who posted on this page before me is an insider at an airline. this someone also happens to be down under and is just the man to speak to about cheap flights:D:D;) |

What if you just purchased your 8 and havent picked it up yet? :) What can they do for me. Sorry, im in that boat now, and damnit, I want my car. |
Return42: Me too. & Crash, another member. We're allowed to call our dealers :D
So if I understood correctly, the thermal blankets are in warehouses (which I guess means in Mazda's distribution centers). This is a good thing, yes? How long before the dealers get them? |
I brought my group 1 car in today for some other things and they did the thermal recall and say it is completed .
The headlight leveling malfunction indicator, not so much luck there. |
MX6_2_RX8: Do you have a sticker under your hood saying that they did the recall?
If you do, can you get them to fax you the group 1 instrucitons so that we can see them? |
Group 1 repair instructions are out.
New flashes "R" for 04 manual, "S" for 04 Auto, "E" for 05 Manual, "F" for 05 Auto. These flashes modify the failsafe rpm level. It remains 2700rpm but is now limited to 1100 rpm when the following conditions have been met for 5 minutes or more. Failsafe mode engages if there is a drive-by-wire problem.
Free Rev Mode: Also modified. To prevent thermal damage, the PCM will reduce RPM to 900 if the throttle is held above certain rpm levels for pre-determined time periods under the following conditions:
Will default to 900rpm if: over 8500rpm for over 10 seconds. 3000-8500 for over 2 minutes. 1300-3000 for over 5 minutes. Inspection criteria for Group 1: Replace if damaged or deformed.
If ANY of the above are deformed on a six speed car, the shifter must be removed and the plastic socket around the shifter must be inspected. (This is the large plastic cage....not the small cup on the end of the shifter.) Poor shifting may result if the cage is damaged by heat. Group 1 fuel tank insp: Lower the front of the tank and look for deformation or wrinkling along the seam. If damaged, replace tank. If not damaged, install heat insulation pad over the hump in the tank between the tank and the body. (Very specific instructions are supplied for fitment of this pad....). Install recall and mod stickers. Jobs done. That's it folks. Gomez. |
Talk amongst yourselves...I'm offline for the next 24 hours! Might be able to drop in for 5 mins or so.... :)
|
Gomez
How the hell do you come up with information on the cars in US :D instead of Australia ??? have you hacked into mazda America headquarters .??? B...free michael |
I was a tad surprised about the '04 flash level, I was told different earlier. Apologies to Polak and zoom.... :o
