I'm SO glad you're not a Mazda product exec

I am in the middle of buying a new RX-8, actually it might be a Shinka. How can I check if the dealer did the check up regarding this recall?
I mentioned that all Rx-8s have this recall and the salesman did not even hear about it, then he went in and asked the manager and came back and told me that the car had been checked already and it was good to go. How do I know if he lied? Csaba |
They should provide you with documentation. It is more likely that they don't have all the info about the recalls yet ... most dealers don't seem to have it yet. Mine only has info about group 2 as of friday and mine falls in group 1. If you've read this thread then you probably know more than your Salesman and his manager .... they are selling cars not repairing them.
Patience is the order of the day. |
^ nobody had group one info until friday night.
|
Oh I was thinking people were already going in for repairs, I guess not. Has Mazda decided exactly what to do yet with the recalls? You'd think that sort of information would have no trouble making it's way to the dealership.
If I have to do 2 recalls, I'd rather go in all at once. |
This is not unusual for a 1st year car (not to mention the fact that it's rotary). So the status right now is.....?? Wait until August???
|
yup waiting for august for one big visit to address all this stuff, and then continue to enjoy the 8 :D

One last thing, True, I dont know yet what the CEL is telling me yet but the way the tech is speaking about it it appears that some electronics may have been damaged or something he needs to run more tests but he thinks its related to this as well. I *think* the law in PA is if the car is back to the dealer 3 times for the same problem, and they still can't fix it. Sorry to hear you're having issues. |
Message for those of us that bought group 1 cars but could not take delivery. Have any of you had a status update from your dealers yet? Crash, you mentioned that you could get yours middle of this week. Is that still the case?
I'm crossing my fingers and any other apendage that I can get mine this week, but I have not heard anything from the dealer yet. |
salituro what swith your link?
|
brightnova, im buying a group 2 car, and I still havent heard a damn thing from the dealership. Pissing me off a bit too, as the registration on my current MX6 expires on July 31. We have retarded emmissions laws that are going to require me to spend several hundred dollars to keep the car on the road... Ill be extremely pissed if I dont have my car by then.
Dealer still insists they are waiting to receive the flash :( |
OK, add me to the list of those waiting (and waiting, and waiting...) for their recently purchased Group 1 car. :( Bought my Sunlight Silver 6-speed 12 days ago. Salesman's latest update to me (15 mins ago) was that the Group 1 instructions that were issued were not followable and need to be re-translated and that heat shields are still in Irvine but will be shipped in advance of updated install instructions. Am I getting yet another line of crap?
|
they have the flash. all the info is out and they can get teh flash.
|
zoom44:
Yeah, thats the part that is bothering me. If they have the flash, etc... why the hell havent they released my car?!?! If it was a Group 1 I could understand, but it being group 2, I cant help but think someone is blowing smoke up by ass! :( |
return42: Who have you spoken to at the dealer? Ask if you can speak to the service manager. The salesman probably does not understand the docs. And he's probably not interested in reading them anyway.
|
Well, it looks like the latest TSB including group 1 cars is up on Rosenthal Mazda's
site http://www.finishlineperformance.com...ins_index.html. Thanks Tommy for putting up the latest TSB and always keeping us informed of what's going on! I really appreciate it as do many others here! Now to give the whole thing a carefull read and study... 13 pages... |
I have been given a timeframe of mid-week this week for my car. This was a call FROM my dealer, throughout the whole ordeal I had to call them directly if I wanted updates. THEY called ME for the first time on Friday and told me that the heat blanket was on the way through Priority Mail. I was told as soon as the service department has it on and cleans up the car (it's been sitting in the lot for about a year so it's REALLY dirty) I can come pick up my car. :)
If they hadn't called me directly and given me a specific timeframe (not to mention been updated on here) I would be doubtful as to whether that was the truth. But it looks good to me! If you guys are having problems then just print out a few pages, WALK INTO don't call the dealership and give em hell. At the very least you will squeeze the truth out of them as they don't want a scene in front of potential customers. :D |
Well, just got off the phone with the dealer, and they say they just got the update this morning and need to run through it to make sure no parts are required. Given the its a group 2, it wont require any, so theory has it I should have my car within days.
.... or, im being lied to again. |
I'm getting: They are waiting for something and they will get it this week. I could not get them to say what the something was. But I have pretty much ordered them to call me back today with accurate information. I've even offered to FAX them the instructions.

It's surprising to see the bulletin released so late, seeing as I got the R-flash so long ago (almost 4 weeks). They had to mail me all the paper work because they were "downloading codes" or something and it was taking awhile to get everything from MNA. I haven't had all the heat pad stuff done, so I will probably have to make another trip back to the dealer. |

The info is up on NHTSA.GOV as well - as many as 56,000 cars to be recalled (ouch), with links to these documents:
http://199.79.180.163/prepos/files/A...5V317-3678.PDF http://199.79.180.163/prepos/files/A...5V317-2389.PDF And this info: Recalls Summary Make: MAZDA Model: RX8 Type: PASSENGER CAR Year: 2004 Recall Number: 05V317000 Summary: IF CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES ARE PARKED AND THE ENGINE IS OPERATED AT HIGH RPM'S FOR AN EXCESSIVE LENGTH OF TIME, SOME OF THE PARTS AROUND THE EXHAUST SYSTEM CAN MELT AND PRODUCE A VARIETY OF MALFUNCTIONS. PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE EXCESSIVE HEAT BUILD-UP CAN RANGE FROM INOPERATIVE OXYGEN SENSOR, NEUTRAL SWITCH AND BACK UP LIGHTS, PROBLEMS WITH THE PARKING BRAKES, MALFUNCTIONS OF THE GAS GAUGE AND/OR POSSIBLE FUEL LEAKS RESULTING FROM HEAT DAMAGE TO THE FUEL TANK. Consequence: FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE PARTS. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING AUGUST 2005. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT MAZDA AT 1-800-222-5500. Notes: MAZDA RECALL NO. 3305G. CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV. Of course, the Mazda repair docs posted here have more info on what to check and what needs to be replaced. Dennis |
It seems like the inspection part of the "procedure" is going to be the most difficult.
And yes, I just edited my own grammar. |
