If you add all the times the members on this board have stated "they felt" more power with each of the flashes... the L flash, M flash, the N flash...all the way to the current R flash, you'd assume the car would be pretty fuckin fast by now, right?

Quite frankly I'm sick of everyone saying how much faster "they think" the car is after each and every single flash. This probably is not going to stop you guys from posting this same crap again and again, but I just wanted to get this off my chest.

alcimedes 08-30-2005 01:18 AM

LOL. just got my car back after the R flash. Didn't really feel any faster to me, but hopefully I'll get some gas milage benefit out of it. Went from M to R btw.

(although the wife was with me in the car, so I didn't want to really push it)

davefzr 08-30-2005 02:02 AM

I went from a flash before M even.. So it's been a while for me.. I can actually say that I feel a difference....

I dont think you can discredit most of the board members feelings on the flash when we are all saying it.. It's my opinion as well as many others..

Maybe it's just because I skipped a few flashes that others may have gotten.. I dont know.. but the difference is there.

Zuhalter Vati 08-30-2005 03:12 AM

I didn't notice a change in mine...I think my MPG may have gone down, but I haven't gone through the figures to be sure.

OK - thanks for the info. That means that the dealer should be able to tell easily that the cups are different, if they go that far. I agree that this is very unlikey. In fact, I wonder what percentage of cars need to have anything replaced at all. Any numbers on this?

Aratinga 08-30-2005 09:36 PM

I just picked up my car today from West Covina (aka "Super") Mazda. They performed both recall inspections and, finding no heat damage, installed the heat insulation pad over the fuel tank, reflashed my car, and had it finished by 1PM.

I did not buy my car there, I did not have a personal recall letter from Mazda (just the one I downloaded here) and they were perfectly willing to do the recalls for me anyway.

Davefzr, do you take your car there too? Just wondering because I also live in Diamond Bar and they are the closest dealer. I saw forum member Riccio's Titanium 8 there today when I went to pick mine up.

davefzr 08-31-2005 12:03 AM

Hey there. Yup.. I take my car there too, though I think I developed a bit of a reputation because it brought up old memories of me fighting with them back and forth about my warranty and it eventually being voided.. oh well.. My car is fixed and they replaced the angle sensor free of charge even though my warranty is voided.. That was nice of them...

I am thinking about getting a new car next year.. Just saving right now.. we'll see...

Well i just got mine back today and the invoice said performed 3305G fuel tank issue. Nothing about the flash and no sticker. I'll have to call them tommorrow.

Hell I don't even get home until 8:30 PM so I don't even know if they installed they installed the insulation. However, I did notice that there were dirty hand marks on the muffler pipe.

As far as the flash..... I can't feel a thing.

I got the two recall notices today
my car has been fine

do you think its even worth bringing it in?????

Brice-RX8 09-01-2005 08:03 AM

From what I read you can tell easily if you got the flash or not. Have the car parked, floor the gas to above 8500rpms and see if after 10 seconds the throttle automatically drops to idle even though you are pushing on it.

Or if the gas tank melts into a puddle of plastic.

fray 09-01-2005 09:54 AM

Just an FYI, I had mine done yesterday (the recall work). There is no sticker under the hood, but they assure me they did the work, including the flash.

So I suspect the PORT sticker is commonly ignored by many of the service departments.

Then you know they didn't fix it :D

zoom44 09-01-2005 10:19 AM

Yes Mike. from what I've seen the new flash is better but i can't feel it.

You need to get the lower arms checked too.

Aratinga 09-01-2005 11:39 PM

RE: the sticker... did you check the edge of the door? For some reason that's where they sometimes stick them instead of under the hood.

Good point. Other RPM's / times...

Engine RPM / Time
+8500 / +10 seconds
+3000-8500 / +2 minutes
+1300-3000 / +5 minutes

ZoomZoomH 09-02-2005 10:26 AM

just got my official recall letter last night... even though i already had it done 2 weeks ago... lol

Tamas 09-02-2005 11:05 AM

Got my letter yesterday too - for both recalls.

L8APEX 09-02-2005 05:08 PM

my letter just arrived today, not in a big rush, but will get it done one of these days.

mrsjacksonrx8 09-05-2005 06:16 AM

I just got a letter in the mail from Mazda about two recalls

snizzle 09-05-2005 10:26 AM

these will come as two seperate letters? i've only received the one about the fuel tank recall

crystaloptik 09-05-2005 11:32 AM

so if someone goes to purchase an rx-8 right now at the dealership its probally one that needs the recall work done?

Tamas 09-05-2005 12:18 PM

No, they come together - if your car is affected by both. Yours falls only under the fuel tank recall, not the ball joint one.
