Remotes won't program

When we bought our 8, we were given the two door remotes along with the 3 original keys (2 regular, 1 valet). The previous owner indicated that the car battery had been disconnected and after it was reconnected, the remotes had not worked. He did say that he had tried changing the batteries in the remotes with no success. I figured they just needed to be reprogrammed. No big deal.

I have followed the instructions to the letter. The locks cycle, so I know I am entering programming mode. It just won't recognize the press of either remotes buttons. I have checked with a multimeter and can confirm that power is moving through the remote circuit board. What kind of scenario would cause both remotes to quit working and no longer be recognizable to the system.

I'm not the first to ask this question. I have searched the forum and have not found an answer other than just buy new remotes. I would accept that if it were not both remotes. I can't fathom that both remotes died. Has anyone else experienced both remotes dying together? Are they just real crappy? Are there versions/models that aren't as crappy? Any input would be appreciated. Is there something that can be unplugged and plugged back in on the car that might reset the control box in case it is the problem?

Thanks in advance,
James

ebay remotes ordered. If they work, that is just sad.

ebay remotes arrived and programmed successfully. The question becomes... Did both remotes go bad at the exact same time that the car battery went flat, or have they become blacklisted with the keyless system by some mechanism?

Anyone in the Louisville area who would like the potential of a free extra key fob let me know. We can see if one of my "bad" ones will be accepted on your car, and if it does, you get to keep it.

And as always, thanks for all of the input.

Not sure why both went dead at same time, likely related to dead battery lost the ECU program for them. You may want to try re-programming the old ones now that the new are working. I just had one of mine die but I have one working fob plus a switchblade key that I purchased and programmed myself. I should try reprogramming if I can find the instructions again.

Lightbulb Interruption

The fine-furniture store where I work has been in business since the 1920s. Recently I received a call from a woman who wanted to replace some chairs from a dining set purchased from us in the 1930s. I assured her we could help and sought the assistance of the office manager. "You'll never believe this one, " I told him." I just got a call from a customer who bought some chairs from us in the 1930s. " Before I could finish repeating her request, he interrupted and said, "Don't tell me she hasn't received them yet!" ----------------------------------Do you look for free wow gold?
