reverse gear being a b!tch
um recently my reverse gear has been really gay. i would put it in and out of R atleast 7 times before it goes into R smoothly.. otherwise i'd end up putting it there and sometimes it will be in and sometimes it wont and when its not my car ends up revving i also tried to put it into 1st then reverse with no luck... any suggestions? is it me? or... the 8... and i remember others having problems with this too... anyone?

You're not alone. Although I don't question my shifter's sexual preferences, I think I know what you mean.
Mine does this on occasion. Press down, shift into reverse, let the clutch out and griiiiind. The shifter appears to be fully in the correct position but it in acuality it is only in part way, thus the grinding. Sometimes I can tell by a barely perceptible difference in the throw but not always. When I suspect its going to happen, I shift back to neutral, release the clutch, re-engage the clutch and shift again.
Mine is sporatic, once a month or so. It may not be the same issue as yours.

[QUOTE]according to Motorsport the plastic bushing on the end of the shifter wears and can cause shifting woes, how many miles do you have?
