Just had the local hot rod shop put in my Racing Beat Intake into my 04' Rx-8. Runs & sounds great! That was one week ago. I don't think it is related though.

Now all the sudden I have hesitation in my accelerator. I noticed it 5 days ago and continually has been getting worse. After shifting into any gear, pressing the throttle an inch or more down makes the rpms jump up dramatically!

My guess is there is no compression. I have a appointment at the mazda dealership tomorrow to get a tune up and decarb/clean the engine with the Mazda Zoom Zoom cleaner. Hopefully it will correct the problem.

If not my guess would be that the ignition wires and coils would be next on the list to replace. Am I heading down the right path to fix my 8?! what else should I be getting done?

That's correct. Dealership called me back finally to tell me what I had already figured out. Had gota towed to the dealership Friday. Hours after picking it up from a tune up, engine clean, and inspection for problem. They said everything checked out okay. 2 hrs later the clutch goes out and leaves me stranded 45 minutes from town. I'm done with this car and the dealership is worthless. Found a dealership that will take the car as is and give me full trade value. Goodbye incredible rx8, and so long expensive maintenance/repair bills.
