RX-8 is back from the shop...

So I just had my ignition kit, motor mounts, & clutch pedal all from BHR installed today, they were working on it today and yesterday. I also had Koni Shocks & Tein S-Springs installed as well. I went to pick it up today and 1st thing I noticed is...

It sounds much louder than before, is this from the ignition kit? The pedal feels great and shifting is much easier. Another thing is that I feel that loudness inside my car and I feel like it trembles or something in 1st and 2nd gear, even in 5th and 6th gear I can hear a low tremble, not sure if this is from the suspension or what...

And finally is it normal to have about 1 finger in the rear and 2 in the front for my Koni/Tein? I feel like it's not that dropped, but I can notice it more in the rear than in the front...figured I'd ask here before taking it back to my mechanic and letting him know what it could be; thanks all!

if you installed the BHR motor mounts. Which mount did you use? the ignition is not going to make the car louder.

Stiffer mounts means more NVH. The gap could be due to improper preloading of the springs. The koni's will also make it sit lower than most shocks and they will likely fail prematurely as well (as two of my friends did).

I have the BHR mounts as well. They make things louder.

I just went outside to take some pictures off my phone and uploaded them. This is what it looks like with the Koni Shocks & Tein S-Springs.

Likely improper installation. Preloading needs to happen, most shops won't have a clue as to what that is.

Where do I need to take it for them to "preload" I don't even know what preload means or NVH when you mentioned it earlier. Is this what could cause the loud trembling noise?

NVH is an auto industry acronym (abbreviation) for "noise, vibration and harshness".

Your mechanic is likely incompetent.

I'm starting to see that. He told me I can come back tomorrow and reinstall the old ones and if it doesn't vibrate or make the loud noise than it's the BHR motor mounts...and I really don't want to spend more money at another mechanic -___-

You wanted stiffer mounts and stiffer mounts is what you got. NVH comes along with that, I am pretty certain there is nothing wrong with the mounts.

Upgraded mounts are noisier, that's just how it is. You'll have to choose if you want the tighter mounts with extra noise, or stock. Frankly, unless you're tracking the car I don't see the point of upgraded mounts.

What would be the point of tighter mounts more noise? I don't think I can return these than to BHR?

Did you do any research before buying engine mounts?

Well it seems there are different motor mounts -___-

I was under the impression that all motor mounts did the same thing, hold the engine in place...didn't know that these from BHR came with NVH...

Go grab your vibrator. Turn it on. Now hold it. See how much of the vibration you feel? Hold it tighter. See how you feel more vibration? That's what the BHR mounts did. They aren't as squishy.
