RX-8 Clutch PRoblem .. Help pls
hi , i have a problem with my Rx-8. its 2005 model 238Hp run: 10 000 km. and something gone wrong with its clutch ( as i think)
The problem is that when i press the Gas it is Accelerating slowly and the car is not running as fast as it should .. like, i can't drive with high Rpg's , like the motor is trying but the Car isn't going fast..
the problem started when i drifted the car there was horrible smell after the drift ( it's my first car.. and because- i'm not a prof driver ) help me pls
[IMG][/IMG] is that the problem ?

What makes you think its the clutch?
I'm assuming you're thinking that at higher rpm the clutch is slipping and not getting all of the power to the transmission?
Any check engine light? in terms of drifting... was the awful smell your tires or your clutch? Has the smell been back since your drifting games?
Does the car rev as it should when not in gear?

Clutch doesn't have much to do with it once you're in gear. Sounds like you are in limp mode, so the car is limiting your RPMs.
You must have a check engine light(CEL) on, I would think!
Try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes, then reconnect. After this, turn the key to on, but do not start it. Turn the wheel all the way to the right, then all the left. Turn the car off, then start as normal. Sometimes if the DCS/TCS got tripped because you were drifting, then it will also go into limp mode. Need to learn the car before you start monkeying around.......in my opinion. If that doesn't do it, then it may be plug/coil time, but need to see if you have a CEL or not, and if so.........what the code is.

This is also what I was thinking... a slipping clutch wouldn't affect ability to rev and the clutch would stink as it burns. . . and coils and plugs are the starting point for nearly every power-loss problem

the smell was of clutch - and the smell was for about 20 -30 minutes

Well, it sounds to me like you know what you broke and you know how you broke it... and it needs replaced.

Okay.............are there any lights on the dash after start-up?
You may have a burnt clutch, but I still believe your car is in limp mode because you attempted some drifting and probably didn't turn the DCS/TCS off. If this is true, the do what I said in my very first post and see if it let's you have higher RPM's after you reset everything.
What I said was...................

trhis will not do anything about your clutch however.
