There is so much more information you need to post for a thread like this. But first, you should have searched because I am betting someone had the same issue. It sounds like you either have bad spark plugs, ignition coils, or plug wires. If you get all of those replaced and you still have no power, you need to think long and hard about how you are going to pay for your new engine. To replace all of those yourself, you are looking at about 260-300 bucks in parts, and around and an hour and a half of your time. Or around 500-800 bucks depending on how your Mazda service department is.

Try an independent transmission shop.

I love it when I'm searching the forums for my specific problem & all I get are treads telling the Op to do searches. Where's your stickies & pinned threads? :-( Threads are like waves in the ocean, you'll get exhausted before you catalog & organize each little wripple. Least you could do is take a nice picture.
2004 Auto 90k. Fluids ok, plugs & wires ok, brand new ignition coils. Independent tranny shop. Here are their prices so far & I still have the same exact problems hard shifting through 3rd & eventually loosing all power as if its In neutral. Feels like driving over big rocks but no go. After it cools its able to crawl forward.
R&I transmission 13 hours / 85$ rate / 1130$
Valve body overhaul 127$
Cooler Line flushes 51$
L/S Kit 483$
Torque Converter 459$
Steel Plates 76$
Stator 123$
Filter 16$
Plus 12 mo warrantee

Are you SURE it's the transmission? That sounds like low compression on the engine.

I'd spend $90-$180 getting a compression test before I'd spend $1,200 on a transmission overhaul that may not be needed.

The shifting logic for the AT is based on many factors from the engine's performance at that moment, and a dying engine could easily cause problems shifting.

That's a great suggestion & I plan on getting it tested as soon as I get it back. For now I'm told by the mechanic that it's definitely a valve body problem but because someone was in there before who didn't use quality parts, it's real difficult troubleshooting it. There's also a chance they may have even bored it out & made it lose compression in the low gears. I'm not sure if he was referring to boring it out as a performance mod or just wear and tear.
