rx8 CEL and vacuum lines
hey guys.... sorry i am doing this at work, i can get pic's and more details when i am at home but.... i have 2 problems
i ust got the car a couple weeks ago... it has an INJEN intake and a Greddy exhaust...
the check engine light is on, for an efficiency in the cat or something to that nature... which i am sure is the exhaust system... i dont know what kind of greddy it is just yet, i havent been under the car... but i do know it is 2 mufflers and a presilencer/cat from greddy.
also i was under the hood lookin around and i have 2 vacuum lines (small vacuum lines) that are just kinda laying there... one looks like it goes to the front of the car somewhere, the other has a gren/white check valve of some sort and looks like it goes to the intake of the engine.... were these just eliminated with the aftermarket intake?
will a power programmer get rid of the engine light?
i know this has probably been asked 1000 times before... but all i have been able to do is find that a catback shouldnt pop the CEL... i think mine is manifold back... nd i havent really been able to find much on the vacuum lines yet...
thanks,
new guy

Well... the cel is most likely from the exhaust under neith. If you no longer have the stock cat under the car then thats the cel. The aftermarket pipe could jsut have a silencer in it or a resinator. If you run the car to a parts store they will check yoru code for free to verify that this is the issue.
As far as the vac lines. I am assuming the one going to the front of the car is for the VFAD. It was removed when the new intake was installed and you should jsut cap the line off as close to the intake as possible.
The other vac line with the green check valve, i can only think of one off the top of my head and its on the back side of the stock plastic intake right around where it turns to come to the front of the car. It would be connected to a nipple ont he bottom of the plastic intake.
Yess, a Cobb AP would be able to shut yoru CEL off if you chose to go that route depending on the CEL
Pictures would be helpful for the vac lines. Without anymore info, thats my suggestions.
