RX8 idle, stall, a/c issue

hey everyone let me start off for thanking for any help or advise i can get. okay so i have a 2004 mazda rx8 6 speed.

problem
1.when coming to a stop rx8 idle goes below normal and feels as if its about to stall sometime even when glidding in nuetral the idle will drop to below 1rpm and car stalls, so i pop it back in gear while glidding and it will turn back on but if i rev the egine to about 7 thousand rpms it wont stall even if i come to a stop. this ussually accures when its real hot outside or if ive been driving at a high speed. . .it happens even faster if i drive with the A/C on the cars idle drops low and then shakes. . it also get VERY HOT but the gages read normal. . .

any ideas suggestions would be very much appreciated thanks

We need more info on the car.
Year
mileage
at or mt.
last plug and coil change.
Original engine?

Also, look through the forum. There are a number of posts on this subject. You're not the first with this problem.

In fact, look at the bottom of this page at the "Similar Threads"

what do you mean by shake, what is shaking?

When was the last time you done a tune up?
Check your plug wires, make sure they are attached.

Can you give us more specifics

since ive bought the car no tune up 9months. . .so i need plugs coils and i just got the oil changed. . .it just shakes like if its going to stall but if i rev the engine real high the stall stops and its idles fine. . .why does it fix when i rev high but it only fixes for a bit

also if AC is on the car gets real hot and stalls out faster. . .?

because the coils and plugs need to be replaced lol
also the plug wires and motor mounts may need changing if it is still shakey after the coils and plugs are changed

My 04 gt6spd does this too on very hot days. Cut A/C off and car idles fine. One time stalled on me and I had to fight to get car started again.

Never quiet figured it out. First thought it was vapor lock.

I know it's not much help but keep car tuned up is best way to fight this problem.

im haveing about the same problem..i took my 2004 rx8 6spd to the mazda dealershit with 90,158 miles on it..the privious owner took shitty care of it and im paying for it..long story short they gave me a brand new motor (not a reman) they worked on it for prob 3 weeks trying to figure out what was wrong with the idle..when it first starts it will crank at 2200rpm..drop to about 1300 and then finally sit just below 1000...that is until it warms up then the idle will become irratic (moving between normal and 1500rpm)..it will do that for a few min then die....once i take off(no matter what the distance) as soon as i push the clutch in the rpms will go straight to zero...there is no vaccum leak..all the sensors are perfect (says the computer at mazda)...the tech guys dont know..and mazda dont know why it is doing this..they just gave it back to me and said maybe itll fix itself...2000 miles later...guess what..it still wont idle..any tips or advice?? just let me know if you need more info on the car..

More info. What was weather like when your car was dying?
Where you in stop and go traffic? What did you have climate controls set at?

In my instances where I stalled from from pushing clutch in i was stuck in stop n go and it was extremely hot outside. By also when issue started had AC on. Of course I killed all comforts and amenities once the issue started. It seemed to help. I have 101k miles on original motor. Could be vapor lock too.

if i recall correctly, it was between 65 and 75 degrees outside..i turned the car on..it idled fine...once it started to warm up and get to operating temp (temp needle starts to move) the rpm starts to fluctuate...i can drive 10 feet down the road or 10 miles with or without traffic and it will still do it..a/c on or off..same with heat..nothing i do (comfort wise) makes it better or worse..i got the car back out of the shop about 3 weeks ago (maybe 4) but either way i have 20143 miles on a brand spankin new motor....the mechanic that did the work said that: "mechanicly your car is perfect, there is no reason for it to be acting this way", "the computer says all the coils are firing when they are suppose to, all the sensors are reading fine and over all the motor itself is perfecct"....in my opinion and what i told him..i dont care what you tell me...if it doesnt idle then it isnt perfect!!! n then proceeded to tell me that i broght the car in to have a motor replaced and that he isnt allowed to work on anything else other than the motor..."which i know is bullshit"..but anyway i threw me the keys and said well maybe itll work itself out..it was hot outside when i got the car back..and now its cold as ****...it runs the same everyday..when under constant rpm the car will scream down the road..but when i stop no matter how i drive it if i leave the clutch in or have the clutch out and the car be out of gear it will die..it old idles when the car is first started...to keep it from dieing i gear down to as slow as i can go (without stalling) push the clutch in, flutter the gas and hold it at about 2500 rpm and hold the e brake so i dont roll..if i hold the rpms under 3k the rpm will fluctuate(sp) but above 3k it stay constant at whatever im holding it at..
