Angry RX8 squeaking noise

My 8 has started squeaking while turning (only to the right for some reason). A day later it seems to squeak when I go over bumps as well. Does anyone know what is causing this? It's a lot louder in person. My car also turns to the right under heavy breaking, not sure if this is a related issue but they both came up at the same time. Both videos are with the windows up, sound is equally as loud with them up as down.

Thanks!

Hello,

Sqeaking:

You have to locaate the sqeaking .. is it inside or outside the car.

If its inside and comes from the steering wheel it could be:
  • the clockspring assembly which is lubricated.. try to re-lube it
  • a steering column U-joint .. try to re-lube it ...
  • steering wheel height adjustment assembly... put the steering wheel completly down and tighten it .. hear if the noise is gone
  • your driver seat ... move it a little and re-check
If its coming from the outside of the car it could be so much u maybe get to a car mechanic to diagnose it but if u dont want to check:

  • the steering U-joint under the air filter box
  • the tie-end rods from the steering rack
  • dampers and coil spring seatings

There is a lot what can cause this sound ... i never had this one in an RX-8. Maybe u can tell a bit more and locate the source eventually.

Oh .. and if ur car turns to the right nd heavy braking check your tire pressure, dampers and brakes .. maybe theres something wrong too.

Greetings

Thomas

Thanks Thomas, it seems to be outside, when I went through a tunnel I could hear it echoing horribly. Will check your suggestions tomorrow.

If it's outside, try to lube alle the wishbone (upper and lower) rubber parts with Siliconespray .. maybe do it in stages to see which part exactly makes the Sound u r lookin for .. and do also the Ends of the steering tie rods.

Also check the whole Suspension assembly for any looseness ..

Greetings
Thomas
