Rx8 stalls but not consistantly???
I have a 2006 stock Rx8 with 49,000 miles the check engine light came on then went off. It runs perfect except when idleing it will stall sometimes and it will run a little rough but only sometimes. When I am on it it is totally fine.
Any suggestions can it be it needs some fuel injection cleaner or a clogged fuel filter.
Thank you in advance for any help...

I HATE SPEEDBUMPS!
When did the last time you've replaced the coils, plugs, and wires? Some will say the fuel pump and clogged fuel filter. Others will say your catalytic. Anyways, you may have to get a compression tested on your engine, it may be losing power as well.

Possibly a failing/bad trailing coil or wire. The trailing coils are what the engine idles on, but have little impact on WOT
The procedure to test the OE coils and wires is the same as in this DIY

Thanks for the reply's The engine actually is new replaced by Mazda 5,000 miles ago and the coils were replaced as well. I will clean the MAF as soon as I figure out what it is haha. I will also replace the fuel filter
Thanks again

Sorry to thread jack, but I am having the same problem, and rather then starting my own thread I figure might as well post here
I have replaced the plugs and wires less then 150 miles ago, just tested the coils using the above mentioned DIY thread all came back great. I have cleaned the MAF sensor, as well as the throttle body itself. I also cleaned the ess, and did the 20 brake stomp and KAM reset.
It idles quite nicely around 1000 rpm, then it dips a little bit under 1 k, but once it gets a little bit below the hash mark under the 1k rpm notch it starts to idle rough and sometimes it will dip below the next mark, not respond to throttle, then die.
I've read a few threads with people mentioning the Cat being clogged. I took her for a spirited drive just a few minutes ago and the cat was not glowing. Is there something I am missing here, or is there a way to have the car idle at 1k consistently, like a set screw to turn to have the throttle body valve open just a smidge more?
Many thanks in advance, and again sorry for the thread jack. If it is a problem I will delete my post.

I've heard about I think its accessport, can this be used to raise the idle a tiny bit to somewhere aaround 900rpm, it seems to be fine when it hovers near there, anything lower then 750 it wants to die

Hey no problem for posting here it sounds very similiar to my problem. I have not done anything and it has not stalled or idled rough in a couple of days. So good luck I hope you figure it out and keep me posted if you do.

I'm still having trouble with this. Could this be a fuel pump issue? I read in another thread, that some owners complain of this problem, and it was related to the fuel pump overheating, which make it want to die. Also read that it usually takes roughly 15-20 min for it to cool down in order to start the car again. Which falls right into my category. I am just wondering before I go tearing apart my car, and my knuckles (heard that fuel pump ring is a bitch), how often is this a problem for other 8 owners? Trying to get this issue resolved quickly, as I finally got my title, and my 8 is now able to be driven on the road, "legally" that is...
