scrapping noise from tranny maybe clutch slip
alright well i put in new clutch ( spec stage 1 part#SZ481) in my car along with the prolite flywheel, after the install i noticed that when i get to 3rd gear at about 4k rpm and any time i hit the gas in any higher gear i get a scrapping noise, which i assume to be the disc slipping. tomorrow ima check to make sure the bolts on the pressure plate are tightened properly (mainly cause i didnt do it myself the first time). im not sure if it makes that noise in first and second above 5k rpm mainly cause i dont have the courage to take it up that high but it doesnt make the noise before then. my clutch pedal is still functioning fine except the pedal has very little pressure and i still have full movement in the pedal. the release point still feels about the same as before. what do you guys think?

bump.
I've been searching since around 7pm today (it's 12:39am now) and this is the closest thing to my currently problem that I can find.
prolite flywheel and fx100 went on today. Pretty much the same symptoms as the op described except it felt fine in first and second with no problems above 5000rpms. Way tooooooo scared to go into 5th or 6th for now.
I hate to do this but, can anyone explain/help?

When I did a clutch replacement, I had to adjust the M/C pushrod , maybe the noise you can hear is the throw out bearing riding on the pressure plate. Do you have sufficient free play on your clutch pedal. Can't explain why it only happens at certain rev's or gear . To test whether the clutch is slipping, start the engine, apply parking brake and select 3rd gear, bring the revs up and slowly release the clutch, if the motor stalls its not the clutch slipping.

My Subaru mechanic friend tells me its normal during the break in and eventually goes away. I've been driving it and besides the annoyance of the sound I've had no problems so far. I just hope it doesn't destroy something. We plan on taking it back apart this week to check it out. Hopefully all looks fine. If not ill view it as a learning experience.
Oh one thing. The pilot bearing seal, we didn't use it. I broke two trying to mount the tranny and I called a few rotary shops but only one answered. I forgot who it was but they said they don't use them in their cars and its only there as a side cover/keep the grease off other components.

its been months now since i did the clutch and flywheel, but ive been driving it like this since and i havent had any issues other than i think my clutch pedal is starting to break and im sure that has been killing my clutch. but as far as the noise, it only does it between 3 and 3.5k and after that its fine ive gotten used to shifting before the noise starts.
