As much as I love to sit in the 8, this is a little ridiculous. I noticed that my seatbelt light didn't go off when I fastened my seatbelt. I didn't think much of it, but when I got home and went to unfasten the belt, it wouldn't come out. I was stuck in the car for probably 10 minutes until I got it to come off. I did put the key back in the ignition, turned it to the on position and turned it off right before it disengaged, but that could be a coincidence.

A little more backstory that may or may not be relevant - I do have my airbag light on, it was on when I bought the car a month ago. The dealership is going to be replacing the airbag, but they didn't tell me specifically what was wrong with it.

Any ideas?

Also some hints have been thrown around that the airbag light might warn against all safety systems not just air bags having a problem.

And, while I know you guys do harp on the search function and assume that people haven't used it due to all the people that don't, I did check the search - I might have been TOO specific in my parameters because I didn't get anything close.

I HATE the local Mazda dealer...I used to work there. ugh. lol

 

When you use the search function there is a couple of key things you can do. First is you can tell it search titles only. Second is that you can tell it post either the thread, or you can tell it to show the post. If you ask it to show the post you can read the line it found it in and determine if its usefull.

On that note if it happens again take it to the dealer and tell them its locking up, its a liability thing and you want the seatbelt replaced.
