The temperature light on my 04 rx8 sometimes comes on after a long trip to work (82 miles) I'm smelling antifreeze but the needle is still in good normal place and the coolant level is still good?? Please help !

Check the coolant bottle. There should be liquid in there even when cold.

I'm assuming you mean the bottle in front of the battery, but that is full . Is there another way to check the radiator because I don't see a radiator cap

That is the radiator cap.

The level sensor is probably going out / getting stuck. You got a few options; leave it be and check the coolant level regularly, replace it (about $120 to do it yourself)

Would that explain the antifreeze smell though. I just drove it hard and I still don't hear the fans coming on

You need to trouble shoot man and it sounds like you are in over your head, it might be best to take it to a mechanic. But if you insist then knock yourself out:

Engine ---> Cooling System -----> Fan Motor Inspection
