everything else is much below range only HC is very high, which explains why our cars drink gas

 

That's more of a bad ignition system than a bad convertor.
If your NOx and CO also high to prove a bad convertor?

The coils have been replaced and also has new plugs..........could it be the wires......what do rx8 avg in terms of HC

CO and NO are both good, so I do agree it might be the ignition

 

with a healthy cat, HC will be under 15, CO is probably 0.02 or less and NOX is under 100.

the biggest difference between the Rx8 and the previous rotary cars is that NOX is lower, and that in transient situations all three stay low.

for instance my friends FC does about 25HC's, CO is 0.02-0.03, NOX is around 250-400, and when you go between the speed ranges the emissions go very high.
