well mine is at dealer now and they are requesting proof of maint. I use to service my car at the dealer for every oil change up until nov 07. thats when I decided I would start to do it on my own rather then drive all the way to the dealer and sit around for an hour waiting for them to change it. Thus I now have to go through all my bank statements hoping to find all the times I spent money at the local auto store for oil. I went to Advance auto and tried to look up transactions from my credit card but they cant do it that way long story short... i change my oil every month and a half however I have no physical paper trail to prove it.

I do take my car in for major services like new clutch and other misc. things that require oem parts. so I do have lots of maint. records from mazda, im hoping that this will be sufficient

joining this prestigious club soon... my '05 mt got 6s in the rear rotor during the compression test, took it to the dealer and they're getting me a new engine (after i faxed them most of my oil change proofs). they said it might take a while tho, cuz they're replacing a ton. just in case people are curious, my engine sounded distinctly different before i brought her in... kinda like a stifled engine tone (as if my engine had nasal congestion) and a noticeable drop-off in torque. i couldn't really notice it cruising on the freeway, but stop and go driving sucked.

I am having my first problems with my engine (35k miles on it:2005) but it seems mazda is screwing me... they wont even give me a new engine! Its losing compression which obviously means its f'ed . They just jerry-rigged the damn thing claiming that it works "ok" but keep an eye on it... then if i notice any rough running or pinging i need to bring it back. Does this sound like bull crap to anyone else? Ya 590$ later which magically isn't covered under my warranty... btw I have 100k mile warranty on my currently messed up engine so they are gonna have to replace that damn engine no matter what anyway so why not go ahead and do it? They've already done their tests to make sure it wasn't neglect and thats fine but now they are charging me for the "carbon cleaning" and other things to try to "quick fix" my problem instead of replacing my engine which is under warranty! Anyone else run into this difficulty?

Here is what it says at the bottom of the "TSB" on how too decarbon the engine and then look at it on page 15....so it is covered ...you will be able to call Mazda America and they will help you or print out and show your dealer.

• This warranty information applies only to verified customer complaints on vehicles eligible for warranty
repair.
• Warranty term coverage is 8 years (96 months) from the original warranty start date, with a 100,000
mile mileage limitation.

Just joined the new engine club, 54960 miles Mazda was even kind enough to reinstall my AEM Intake haha.

Oh yea 2 cracked visors and water in both tail lights, they won't replace because Basic warranty exp. 50k/48months. and because basic warranty is out, they won't give me a loaner while I wait for engine.
i am experiencing the exact same thing..knock sound + loss power + blinking CEL at high speeds..dealership said i will need a new cat but not until it is completely clogged i guess..i replaced my wires/plugs/coils and my car feels the same..only difference between you and i is that MAZDA said my car is fine..they "ran" a couple of tests and everything is normal..i am thinking about calling MAZDA HQ

I know Im new here and I dont have pics up but when my car is done i surely will.

Im on my second motor, to the point im swappn a 20b in it =/. My first blown motor was my fault, Ran turbo Untuned with a crappy E-Manage, and had a fun Run on the Belt Pkwy till i felt the Det. Pushed the life outtah that motor the end result when i took it apart was heart breaking If I find the pics ill post em up.

So my car seems to have so much more power in the low RPMs than it did before, of course this really hard to truly determine because my butt-dyno just spent 2 weeks in a Nissan Altima haha. But so far I've put on just over 100 miles and seems to be running fine, keeping it under 4000 RPMs, letting it warm up, and revving to 4000 to turn off.

anyone know the typical wait time to get the go ahead from mazda to warrenty the motor... ive been out of a cark for 3 weeks now and still no answer from warrenty

Should be a day or so to get the yes/no. I would definitely bug the dealer or Mazda to find out the hold up.

It should not take longer than a few days tops. Both times it only took a day after i dropped the car off to find out i was getting a new engine. Get on the phone everyday until you get an answer, and always ask for the service manager.

Well, add me to the club.
I'm just having an issue proving the oil changes. 1 of the places I went wipes there database over a year. I have 9k between changes other wise. I'm really hoping that that will do it, but who knows.
The guy at the service center told me that once it's OK, they can have the new one in in under a week. That seams quick to me, but I guess they're getting good at it. When I was up there, there was another 8 getting a new one as well.

Providing the Dealer has your Reman engine there, a week to change over is more than enough time provided they "schedule" your car in for that week.
Allowing for any unforeseen problems once the new engine is in your car.

There is nothing worse IMO when Service Admin pull the mechanic off your car to do another "more urgent" job.

Well, finally got an answer from Mazda. They are going to replace it under warranty. Not sure how long it's going to take for them to do it, I was too happy that they were not going to charge me. lol
I'm waiting for them to call me back for a loaner/rental. But, they should do it since it's a warranty repair, right? But, with the week I've been having...

Well, they are going to give me a loaner while she's getting the engine. They are also going to put in the new overflow for the radiator that I had to buy while they are at it, just have to drop off the part. But, I guess this means I have to go to work now. lol

mine has the green light for warrenty... engine is ordered and I now have a paid for rental from the dealer. Cant wait to get it back.......

Just skimmed some of this thread, and boy did it make me appreciate my dealership. I won't give them a shameless plug by name-dropping just yet -- maybe after the car is back in my hands, and I can confirm that the engine swap and any subsequent work has completely cured my 8's ills.
In any case, I didn't get any run-around at all. Over the course of this past summer, I've had my 8 in several times for rough idle/lack of power. Twice they replaced ignition coils/plugs/wires (apparently they won't do the full set, just whichever ones logged a misfire error code). Another time, they performed the latest PCM reflash. Yet the problem persisted. So I scheduled another appointment and drove down yesterday. They decided to the the full 'lack of power' TSB, and apparently on the test drive after they decarb'd the engine, they were still experiencing the lack of power I complained about.
So they called me and said "We called Mazda, and they've authorized us to replace your engine under warranty. The new engine should be here at the end of the week, and we should have your car finished some time next week."
No demands for service records. No claims of abuse. No run-around. I was pretty impressed by that. (Maybe the fact that I only have 24K miles on the car might have helped with that).

It took a bit of time but the car is back and running perfectly. New engine is up and all is good. Love my dealership, they really went to battle for me to get the motor as I didnt have any proof of maint.

That is good.

How long did the actual install take? Did you notice any difference in the car? Did they put in new plugs/wires or did they put back in the old ones?

the install took a day and half once the motor was received. it has new plugs and wires.
