Anyway the car feels like it has more power after about 5k but I dont notice much difference before that.

Reading on all rotor faces were anywhere from 6.3 to 6.9 before the new reman.
Where did you get yours done? Did you ask about the oil injectors?

That would be really nice. What part of cali I'm in Socal and they told me that they go through enterprise and they wont let me rent a car unless I'm 25.

I excitedly called them back thinking my car would be finished, come to find out after 20 minutes of driving, "remaned" engine.....has 0 compression that's right all three readings have come back as 0. So I have no car (I'm not 25 they wont give me a loaner) I'm out $500 for new parts, and I have to go another 2 and a half weeks of "tomorrow" and who knows how much more in parts. Can anyone give me some retribution here is it ever going to look up? I'm super pissed.
If it makes you feel any better you didn't have to pay for both rebuilds, if you did you'd be out well over $3,000.

I have finally joined the club... 65000km (40300 mi) due to low compression... took them 3 visits with the first 2 being a week long each and the last one being 5 weeks... they couldn't figure it out.

Premix and SOHN fellas. My buddy is a rotary tech (and member here) and he said he has had a run of low mileage 07's coming in lately.

Bottom line engines in general are designed to die, It's how companies stay around. Sadly rotarys die the fastest.

I got my engine replaced at 49k. Went in for the M16 PCM flash and said I felt a loss of power (I had the car for a year bought it used at 40k). They told me I needed a new engine and they had it installed a month later. They recommended I get new plugs, plug wires, coils, and a clutch. I did and they installed it for free. I drive my car off the lot and i get no more than 10 miles and im leaking coolant. I call them up and they bring a tow truck to pick me up (It didnt overheat and the leak was minimal but I didnt want to take a chance with my new engine). Once they got it there they gave me the mazda 3 as a loaner (second time). The next morning they tell me that the tech didnt tighten up a bolt that he thought would have been tightened by the people who refurbished the engine. Ive drove about 1.2k on my new engine and havent had any problems (besides the same weird idle fluctuation as before once the engine is warm). All in all, I cant complain. I got a smoking deal on my 05 shinka and now its engine wear will be all mine. Thank you Kiefer mazda in Eugene Oregon.

As I have repeatedly in the past stated, you need to undo the cat converter from the exhaust manifold during the seafoam cleaning process to prevent this. It's not unusual for excess amount of liquid seafoam to pass through the engine and accumulate in the exhaust if you don't, which upon start up will light off and fry the cat no different than excess liquid fuel in the exhaust system following an engine flooding.

I have the first 190 klms. on my baby after getting her back yesterday.
New engine, cat and thermostat were replaced by dealer at no cost.
I paid for new OMP lines and nozzles, engine mounts.
New coils, plugs and updated SSV valve were done just prior during the testing process to see if my first engine was garbage.
This break-in period is gonna kill me, trying very hard to keep varying speed, no hard acceleration and to keep her under 4K rpm's.
No cels so far and seems to be running real smooth.
Keep you updated.........

Get a SOHN adapter or premix.

Yes, I always pre-mixed on the previous engine and will be doing the pre-mix right from the start on this one.
I'll look into the DIY for the SOHN adaptor.

Waiting for dealer to get "new" engine.
(I put new in " because I assume it is just a rebuild)

2004 6 speed with 40,800 miles.
original owner.
4k mile oil change intervals.
Been premixing every other tank for the last 15k+ miles.
When fully hot, would not start (been like that for a while).
The Mazda tech told me it has 4.0 compression- the lowest he had ever seen.

Oh well.

I"ll be joining shortly. Vacuum is 13inHG. Uses a quart of oil ~300-500 miles, low on power.
More stuff in my thread.
Oh, and I change oil every 3k, and check oil during refueling religiously.

So I now have 1,400 klms. on my re-built, new cat and thermostat all replaced under warranty.
I replaced omp lines and nozzles, motor mounts and new coils, plugs and wires and the updated SSV were done just before re-built was put in.
The following has happened:
1) at about 400 klms. the engine completely cut out on me after about 1 hr. of driving. I was able to pull her over let it rest for about 10 mins., re-started it and drove the remaining 10 mins. home with no troubles. No cel's when this happened.
2) just today, after keeping the re-built under 4K rpm for the first 1,000 klms. I began bringing her slowly up to about 6K rpm at times.
Well; driving in 2nd at about 2K rpm I decided I'd go about half throtttle and bring her up to 6K rpm and when I did this the car just started bucking wildly and hesitating just like it did with the previous engine.
Again no cel's when this happened.
I have her booked into the dealership first thing Tuesday morning.
Right now it remains a mystery??.....we'll see what happens.....
other than the obvious - bad set of plugs, coils or wires and the possibility that I received a dud of a re-built engine from Mazda....... is there a possibility of a bad/malfunctioning CPU (or whatever the brains of the car is) ?? and has anyone else experienced a malfunctioning CPU?

getting a little frustrated now with this beautiful car......

Whoops, just read this. That's a buncha crap. I was 21 when I went to enterprise and got a rental for the 1 month or so my car was in the shop getting the reman. Go up there and crack some skulls! ...on the down low I'll do it for you for a small fee...

I'd hoped I'd never be posting in this thread, but...

New engine for me next week at 79,000 miles (failed compression test). Classic symptoms: difficult to start when hot, loss of power when engine hot.

2004 MT, no modifications, regular oil changes at dealer, driven normally (commuter car).
