Squeaky Clutch

Everythings been perfectly fine with my 8. No problems whatsoever. Maintanance has been kept up (actually its been AHEAD of scheduled mantaince). So recently im driving to the bank and i noticed my clutch squeaks as i release it. but it doesnt squeak when i press it, its only when i slowly releasse. I noticed it squeaks only in gear (for example at a red light in first and as i release it squeaks). When im in neutral and i press the clutch and release .. no squeak.

My cars a 2006 MT. With around 60 000 km.

Anything i can do to fix this ?!?! It scares the S*** out of me to drivemy car right now cause i know people have experienced their clutch pedal snapping off. And im very scared itll happen to me while driving

Sorry i searched but i didnt find anything this specific. Sorry if its a repost but its stressing me out. I like my car to be mint.

Anyways thanks for the help.

Mine squeaked, It all went away after I took out my clutch pedal assembly and had the whole thing welded. Also prevent it from snapping.

Seems like you know about them snapping so why not weld it or buy the reinforced bracket?

How do I know whether it will snap or not? I mean I can probably stand the squeeky ness for a bit longer. But my 8 is my only way of transportation and I have to get to work. Kind of scarted it will snap while I'm driving

I "fixed" my squeak with some WD40. And then my pedal snapped a few months later

Looking back, I should have just taken it to Mazda and asked them to check it out once it started squeaking. I think it cost something like < $300 to replace at the dealer.

Mine lasted around 70,000 miles.

I *think* you can check for side-to-side movement to see if it's on it's way to snapping.

What I find weird is that it onluy squeaks while I'm in gear. And doesn't while I'm in neutral. So if it was on its way to snap, wouldn't it squeak whenever I presss and release regardless if I'm in gear.

I really can't say. Maybe take a peek at your bracket and see if it wiggles, and/or if you see "play" in it. Look at the pic and you can see where mine snapped... maybe you'll see something odd beginning to happen in the same place?

How much would this cost ? And where would I go to get this done ? Are there shops that's take it off and weld at the same place or would I have to get a mechanic to take it off then take it to a weld shop?

I recommend the reinforcement bracket... $135 and an hour.

Ill look into the bracket. But I'd have to wait a month or so cause I honestly don't have the money. But as for now is there anythin I can do to fix it. Can I lube the spring ? If so whatt do I use wd40 ? I know someone said trhey used this and it snapped afterwards.. I hope the wd40 doesn't cause it To crack

Don't think so, I think it's just that as the bracket starts to get weaker and wiggles around when you use the pedal, the parts all start to slide against one another at angles God never intended, so... it starts squeaking.

And the WD-40 may stop the squeak, but the metal keeps flexing and weakening and flexing and weakening until...

Well, you saw my pic

If you look at the pictures of the crack that forms near the bolt holes, the thing you want to do is reinforce that area with a welded in reinforcement. Perhaps you could form up something out of sheet metal.
Lubricating the spring really won't help but it will quiet the squeaking until the metal breaks...

I guess the only thing I can really do is buy the bracket from race roots or BHR. Cause I'm not really mechanically inclined.

I just hope to God it doesn't break within a month or so. My worst nightmare would be having it break on me while I'm driving, I'd panic.

One thing I noticed also is it onlly squeaks after like 15 minutes of driving. It never squeaks when I start driving.

If it (clutch bracket) hasnt been repaired , replaced or fitted with a strengthening device, do it now, it will save you any worries later on. Its not rocket science and is easy to do, very easy.

Yeaa I definitely will. But I'm just happy I fixed the squeaky ness. And I looked at the bracket and everything seems fine.

As for the reinforcement bracket ill probably do it in december. Don't have the money right now.

If your bracket brakes than it might take other things with it. Lots of money

Get a camera and crawl under there and take a pic of the bracket and post it here. The only other prob could be the early builds had an assembly fluid issue and there is a TSB on it. I think Mazda only fix that fluid TSB if it's still under the main warranty or extended.
