SSV? Or Bad Coils?
I have searched!!!
there are not many ssv threads at all.
and the only reason i am posting is because i read that the ssv
only opens around 5-7k rpm? and it woulf feel sluggish if it didnt.
Well once my car hits 5k it rockets. and i can let off the gas and floor it and response is right away.
My problem is take off's my car struggles to get over 3k.
around 25mph, then once it does it's fine.
so now starting to think i may have bad coils?
they were last changed 30k ago when reman engine installed?

On another note, WTF Is wrong with mazda trying to charge 900 for coil job?
i read it was easy diy, but did not no it was this easy.

Well the 1 sticky thread by nycgps or whatever clearly states if your coils have white burn marks,
they are on there way out.
So feel free to correct him.

Actually, that turned out to not be true. (I know that I had suggested otherwise a while back because of the coincidence. Mulligan.)
First of all, the coil TSB specifically mentions that the white spot is not an indication of a bad coil.
Second, I have several coils that are spotted and strong and a few that are dead with no spots.
I think the spot is just an indication of extreme heat (and a potentially failing condition as a result) but not of an actual failure.

Hmm.
Thank's well i will replace them to see if that fixes my problem.
i cleaned maf sensor, throttle body, took off upper intake ssv is not stuck it's shiny as hell.
not a lick of carbon on it or any were.
so i think after coils, if problem persists my motor is trash after all.
Will get a compression test done tomorrow.

Exactly, and it specifically states that in the factory service manual as well (or TSB, can't remember which). The coils needed to actually tested to confirm they are bad. But honestly for the price of factory coils I always just replaced them prior to going with the BHR kit.
