SSV or compression?

SSV or compression?
My 8 has been giving me nightmares lately..
I'm having issues attempting to start the car up when warm - usually I need to wait 5 minutes. I am hearing a ticking sound from the engine (I'm assuming that's the SSV). Also, when the engine is cold I can easily red line but when it warms up the car seems very sluggish trying to go past 5k rpm at certain times and will drop RPM not letting me go up any...
Can this be an SSV issue?
Also, I have a Walbro fuel pump installed which whines excessively under load.. I can hear it if I rev the motor.

Small update:
When the car is fully heated, I can rev it if free spinning and not in gear. I doesn't allow me to rev high if in gear (doubt it's a tranny issue). I'm still thinking it's the Walbro pump as it whines excessively loud when I rev it high.
